Always enjoy Muni
Always enjoy the golf at Michigan City Municipal South Course. Greens were in good shape. Had some zip to them. The overall course conditions were also good. Tee boxes were good, fairways were excellent. Rough was thick in places. The only downside would be the bunkers. Between players not raking properly (if at all) and the bunkers needing better drainage and more sand. I was only in one but others in my group weren't thrilled with the condition of them. Friendly staff as always. Perfect weather made for an overall fun day.
Fun fantastic well run municipal course
Played mid morning on a perfect weekday morning. Tee boxes, greens and traps all in great shape. The course was still drying out from precious couple of days of rain, they had wet areas well marked so staying dry wasn’t an issue. A couple of mud balls, but course was lush and grass was thick in rough and very nice in fairways.
The folks who maintain this course care about conditions and it shows. We had several foursomes in front of us but pace was decent as we finished in 3:45.
Keep up the great work guys, staff was also welcoming.
Poor course
The fairways were low tier at best the rough was patchy and hard as a rock. The greens were well maintained and about the only thing decent about the course. The staff was friendly
Really nice course
Beautiful day, great course. Play was slower due to a lot of twosomes. Other then that. Nice place to play a round of golf.
Good Muni Course
Fun little municipal course. Overall in good condition. Greens were in outstanding shape. Very undulated and challenging. Would absolutely recommend
Great course!
As alway, the course was in great shape even after it rained most of the day before. Early tee times tend be a littler slower on the weekends but it picked up on the back nine. Chris and the staff earn the 5 stars every round!! I will definitely be back!
A great value - fantastic greens and easy to walk
This is a great gold course. The greens are challenging and roll pure. Lots of birdie chances out there - a really great place.
Played this course on Master's Sunday 2022, and came back in June 2022. Both times I enjoyed the course. It's not long, but there are plenty of spots for you to get into trouble.
PACE: A bit slow, and no ranger. Not unbearable, but groups were not staying behind the group in front of them.
CONDITIONS: Tee boxes and fairways were great. Rough wasn't too long. Bunkers were wet/flat from rain the day before. Greens were soft, but fast.
STAFF: Nice. Though the cart girl should service beer on the tee boxes, and not next to the greens slowing up the group behind.
VALUE: Yes... great value. Will be back.
LAYOUT: Holes 1, 2, 17, and 18 are all on the flat, "boring" part of the course (though hole 2 has a biarritz-style green). The fun is from holes 3 thru 16. Holes 5, 6, and 7 are a fun stretch. The par 3 10th is fun. The course is very walkable, and I would recommend walking.
Only downside was that there wasn't (or I didn't see) a driving range by the South course. Apparently there's one by the North course.
Enjoy!
Nice public course
Course conditions were good & pace was excellent. Only two issues were a cart fee was extra and not included in the GolfNow rate. The other issue was a lack of beverage selection.
