Course is located in a Military facility - authorization required
Be sure to get there a little early if you do not already have clearance to enter Ft. Leavenworth.
It took us about 15 minutes to go to the Visitor's Center and get our brief background check before we received authorization to enter. The authorization is tied to your ID so don't forget it...
The course was well maintained, the pace of play was great and the staff were very accommodating.

Great course overall. Courses in great condition, has a very interesting, layout, challenging holes, and is in very good shape. Two of the holes near the water have been damaged somewhat heavily by the heavy amount of geese that I’ve taken up refuge on the pond.
Highly recommend
Great hilly layout with many mature trees. Ball placement off the tee a top priority, but fair throughout. Course was immaculate condition from tees to greens.
Slow greens.
Slow greens and too many trees covering the fairway makes it a very weird course. Some of the holes are very enjoyable. A lot of uneven elevation makes it challenging.
In progress aereation
Checked in and was not told anything about part of the course being closed. Heard rumors from ither golfers while playing the front nine. Also was not told that greens were aereated the day before. We asked the pro shop at the turn and the person said the course is open. When we got to 12 there was a sign that said the rest of the course was closed due to aereation and to return to clubhouse. When we returned they gave us two options. Play the front nine again in 15 minutes or take a nine hole rain check. Grounds keeper and pro shop staff need to communicate.
Trails West
Haven’t played the course in years, really liked coming back. A word of warning to anyone playing there, it requires you to stop by the visitor center and acquire a pass to enter the gates of the Fort
Plan Ahead!!
Thought this was a very nice course and challenging. Beautiful scenery and staff was very friendly. Was unaware that this course is located on a secure military base where guest passes are required. To secure the pass you need to go to visitor center located off base, give drivers license, ss#, as well as a photo that they load pass onto your DL if it is an enhanced license. Took about a half hour, so lucky we were early. Looking forward to going back.
