SHAGGY GREENS...
We as in my playing group Hated the slowness of the greens. They were bumpy, shaggy and slow. Very hard to make putts. Other than that it was a fun day!!!
Great course for any level.
Really enjoyed playing the Wildcat course for the 1st time. Very accessible and forgiving for any level. Only drawback was the sprinklers were on for the first few holes. Made for some fun dodging.
Do over
Very pleased with course conditions and staff. Challenging, but fair. Our only issue was with our GPS units. We would be on a hole but GPS would show that it was a different number. Just a little confusing. I guess the hole designations have changed st some point. Definitely will play again.
Great course. Very slow play
Course was a lot of fun but very stacked up with groups. Luckily everyone was patient and friendly
Over 5 hours
First off the course was in fantastic shape and the staff was great. I have no complaints about the course layout or anything of that nature. The pace of play was terrible, I kept hoping someone would come out and say something but maybe it was just bad luck.
Wildcat
This course used to be really nice but over the last few years they’ve let it go. The fairways are now tufts of grass with dirt in between. It’s still not a bad lil course but needs the fairways and greens overhauled now that it’s been let go so badly.
Decent Course, Experience Hampered by Overbooking/Tee Intervals
Let me start out by saying the course is fine. Decently fun track that was in okay condition, albeit seemingly not as good as its sister course. Firm, decently fast greens, and well-kept, thick rough (penalizing, but not insanely thick). The fairways were a little shoddy but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt since it's still early in the year. Bunkers were essentially mud, but so are the bunkers in almost every other course in the area.
My main issue was with the way they seemed to manage tee times. I played in a foursome, and as soon as we got done with the first hole we already had a twosome right behind us (It was a par 5 and they had both laid up to about 60 yards out while we were on the green). We hit our tee shots on #2, let the twosome through, only to see that there were already 3 more twosomes on #1 already. I'm the biggest proponent of "let faster groups play through," but if we were to continue doing that we would be letting a group through on every single hole, likely holding the course up even more, and completely spoiling any rhythm of our own round.
We ended up taking a 30-minute break at the turn to grab lunch and let some of those twosomes through, only to be greeted on #10 by 3 MORE twosomes stacked up tee to green. Our (average foursome) pace may have been a factor in that, but it just does not make any sense to me to stack up a bunch of twosomes in 5-minute intervals on a weekend. At least space them out a bit more and toss out the idea of some of them joining together to play as foursomes. I hate that we held some groups up, but we were not about to sacrifice our day and play a 6 or 6.5-hour round to alleviate an obvious managerial oversight. We finished in just under 5 hours including the half-hour break, and felt rushed the entire day. Maybe we were in the wrong for not being able to play at the pace of a quick twosome when we had one scratch player and 3 90s shooters, but it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth that we felt we didn't have the option to let them through due to the lack of spacing between them,
On top of that, the food was mediocre at best, Only cold, bland sandwiches and hot dogs that IMO aren't even as good as the ones available at the local munis. The staff wasn't rude, but had a fairly cold and impersonal vibe.
All in all, the only reason we played this course was because all the munis were already booked up when we were looking to get a tee time, but if we're in that situation again we'll just play somewhere else. If you have no issue with either being held up or feeling rushed because groups are going off every 5 minutes, you'll probably be happy here. But, if you plan on playing in a foursome and like to enjoy your day a little bit without worrying about the 8 twosomes they sent off immediately after you, then just call about a week ahead of time and go to one of the munis instead.
