2 to a cart
It is very unfortunate that during the worsening pandemic Walden Golf Course has decided to go back to two people per cart. Be aware of that before you purchase green fees. Other than that not a bad place to spend a few hours playing golf.
Great Winter Round Tune-up
Course was in great shape considering how much it has rained recently. There was some standing water in the bunkers, but again it rained the last two days straight and was expected. Looking forward to getting back when it isn’t windy and sub-40.
Challenging layout, a good test of lateral dispersion and distance control, with more than a few risk/reward par 4’s, score-able par 3’s, and a stout uphill par 5 finish. Greens were rolling fairly well despite the rain.
Can’t comment on the food/amenities as a result of COVID-19 closures but the gentleman working the carts/starter was very friendly and helped me get going. Overall a very enjoyable golfing experience.
Needs work
I love the layout of this course. If the conditions of the tee box and parts of the fairway were in better shape this course would be fantastic.
Today’s round
It wasn’t a good day weather wise in Baltimore so we were able to play in 3 hours. Carts on path only for the remainder of the year. Greens were aireated with sand. Course was very wet due to the amount of rain we’ve had. Snack bar was closed due to lack of golfers. I play this course a few times a month and it’s always a challenge
Dirt Track, don’t bother
Course was in terrible shape. Next to no grass in fairways, aerated greens top dressed with sand - like putting in a bunker and terrible pace of play. Overgrown weeds, etc. this is a below average muni.. dont bother if you are a serious golfer.
Very rough
I’ve played this course several times in the past and it’s always been a challenging course but fair. The greens very nice & quick. The rough was horrible & the fairways were not much better. Got no roll off of tee balls that were hit in middle of fairway. Some of the fairways actually played like the rough. I understand with the amount of rain and the pandemic going on that things may be a little difficult, but to lose 3 balls in the group that were obviously in the fairway was very disappointing. Will give it another chance in October.
Course unmanaged
First 9 good pace. Second 9 slow. Two teams joined at no 10. Were they authorized? If so why start at no.10 and slow us down?
It’s a good affordable course but no marshals that’s why. Maybe that’s why it’s so affordable because they don’t want to finance quality rounds.
There’s no marshaling
Our second 9 were soo slow because two teams just placed themselves in front of us and there was no management to control play. As a result it took us longer to finish.
I suggest they put someone to supervise at no. 10 because this happens all the time.
