Walden Golf Club

I have played this course close to 50 times, but I will never go back again. We played a 4:15 round and were asked to pick up our place right after we had been hit into by the group behind us. The course was in horrible shape with no grass on certain tee boxes, trees were not trimmed either around the cart paths or around the tee areas. There was one hole where we had to drive through three different sets of tree branches because they had not been trimmed and there was no place else to go. The course is not hard, but because they didn't trim any of the tree around the tee boxes, there was only 5-10 yards wide to get your shot through. Not always conducive to a good shot depending on the hole.

I would highly recommend NOT playing there.

The course is in good shape. Pace of play was fantastic. Two greens need considerable work. All in all, this course moves quickly and is a great bargain for the money.

Truly can't beat the value. Course is in really nice shape, new white sand in bunkers, and friendly staff. Will defiantly be back!

Walden is a moderate to hard course. especially from the blue tees. The greens were a little slow but the lay out is outstmnding and you must hit your clubs to score.

Had a blast at this course in Crofton. I would say that it is narrow and a few of the greens could use work. Nice course overall. I dont know when I will be back, way to many hazards for me.

Walden has made a lot of progress this year. The bunkers are in great shape and the greens are rolling true. People need to learn to fix their ball marks. Beverage cart needs to make more regular passes. I am very happy with the improvements this year.

The greens were the only thing good. Not sure about the fairway. I think it's backyard grass? If you ever played a halfway decent course, you'll know what I'm saying.

Some holes are in pretty good shape, nice greens, tee boxes, and fairways. Other holes are in terrible shape. A few tee boxes are almost bare. Greens vary considerably from hole to hole, both in reception and in speed.

This is a great layout but conditions were poor. Won't play again unless conditions improve dramatically.

This golf course just isn't for me. It's situated around a ton of townhouses, therefore people walk their strollers, kids are fishing, etc.. so the golfer has to wait to hit. Also, I couldn't even hit my tee shot on ten because there were kids playing lacrosse on the fairway. I won't be going back to this course.

This course was nothing special, it was in pretty good condition and pace of play was great. I didn't have any food so I can't speak to that. My biggest problem was with the staff. The guy working the pro shop was very dismissive, as if he couldn't wait to get me out of there so he could go back to watching TV. Then, starting on the second hole I was with a mower for the rest of the front nine who treated our group as nothing more than an impediment to getting him back inside. He didn't pull to the side when we were teeing off, kept mowing very close to us while we were in the fairway and on the greens, and this happened for 8 straight holes. The back 9 was much better, but there was one green that was torn up and covered in sand. All and all, I probably won't come back.

Pros:

It was nice weather today.
It's relatively short (think 3 wood of most par 4s)
The beer was good
Decent layout - Many obstacles in each hole force you to strategically approach each hole

Cons:
Conditions stink. - poor sandy greens, hairy greens, grass less tee boxes. Get the idea?

Rude staff. No starter. Desk guy barely acknowledged me.

I got a hot deal on GN and it was only $20. I would otherwise not bother. Goto lake Presidential.

It's a shame to see this course in such bad condition. Fairways dirt greens hairy and tee boxes dirt what happened to the grass? Don't waste your time or money on this dog track!

Course was not well kept. Land scaping didn't appear to be a priority. Mowers kept working while I was trying to hit. Sprawling course. Uninspired. Over priced. Would not play again

Course was in so-so condition. First nine is tight in spots. You can tell this was the added nine squeezed in after construction of housing. 2nd hole is a silly lay-up, lay-up & wedge par 5. Most of the greens were ok but a couple of them have rough patches. Back nine much better layout. Can't say I'd be excited about playing there again.

For the price of a round, you can't beat this place, especially in this area. This course is every bit as nice as some of the other courses in the area for half the price. There are some issues on the course, there was a hole where the green was being redone, but overall it is a nice course, albeit short. If you play from the whites normally, I'd suggest playing from the blues here, or leave your driver in the bag most of the time. I will definitely play here again and will use this course as my go-to when I want to get a round in and not pay an arm and a leg.

My group consisted of 1 man and three women. The white tees presented far more challenges over water and hazards than the red tees. However there were several challenges from the red tees over hazards and only one over water from the tee box. The bunkers are numerous and it helps if you are a straight hitting golfer. Some fairways are narrow and require strategy to get over the hazards and creeks if you are not a long ball hitter. I need to play this course several times this season to work on my course management and skills.

Although quite short, tee shot accuracy is a must. A lot of creek crossings and marsh areas give the course some added difficulty. Some patchy spots
on greens, but overall they rolled true. Fun to play.
My only real complaint is there is no practice range.
