Que on The Rock
Excellent course, the views are spectacular. I played in in July- hot. My only concern, there’s no water on the grounds and no ball washers.
The course is considered one of the best in area
They had come up with an irrigation problem in the past week and because of it - cart path only, no one reached out to us and still charged the same fee.
Like to walk?
8 of 18 holes, cart path only. Had two extra slow groups in front of us. Neither a foursome. Cart paths are extremely far from tee boxes and from fairways. Have to walk around numerous bunkers on multiple holes to reach greens. Should not have to pay cart fees for a course your walking the majority for. No beverage cart. No turn snack shack. Staff was friendly but otherwise a less than desirable experience. Course was in decent shape otherwise. Played 8 holes and left.
Tough August
Bulle Rock is one of my favorite courses. It did not seem that the weather conditions have been favorable to them this summer. Many burnt/scorched areas on their fairways, very atypical at Bulle Rock. Greens were just aerated (small punch) rolled almost at peak already. CPO but pace was spot on for a normal day.
Lost a Step
It seems this thoroughbred has lost a step over the past coupla years. What had been the premier accessible golf course in the state has come down a notch. Rough was shaggy the day we played, greens seemed stressed and there were hot weather scars in the fairways. However, the price was also lower than in the past - so, overall, still a great value!
Beautiful Course
My son and I teed off on a Thursday morning, and had a great time! The staff were very professional and friendly. The course is absolutely beautiful, the grille was excellent, and we will definitely be returning.
Undergoing maintenance
Rough has been kept too high due to the severe heat conditions this summer. Consequently, tough to find your ball when you stray from the fairway.
Access to greens is very limited from the cart paths.
Many distances seem to be much longer than indicated due to slope of the fairway.
Course is buried in a housing community which limits ingress and egress. However, no housing comes into play out on the course itself.
Overall nice layout and will probably return , but definitely not on a weekend.when 5+ hours are probably common due to present conditions. Hopefully the recent scheduled maintenance this week will help considerably with the pace of play.
Bulle Rock has gone downhill
Bulle Rock, which was one of the best courses in the Northeast and previously ranked as high as the top 50 U.S. public courses by Golf Digest, has gone significantly downhill and is not even in the top 1,000 public courses, let alone top 100.
This course was previously one of my absolute favorite courses and I was dying to play there this year. The course conditions were extremely poor. Tee boxes were awful, greens were poor and fairways had burnt out grass. There was a ton of crab grass everywhere and the course was extremely wet. Yes, we got rain this weekend but it was a slogfest out there. I would not play this course again - at least not until I hear that the conditions have improved as this is not worth $60 let alone the $110 we paid.
I will say that the restaurant and amenities here are fantastic. The food is great and the facilities are excellent. The course is another story.
Bulle Rock Doesn’t Disappoint
Professional level course, beautifully designed and always challenging. Play from the blues or the white/blue tees; the extra challenge is worth it. Have to play smart by putting the ball in the best spots on nearly every hole. Longer hitters do have an advantage here, but straighter hitters have a chance, too. Bulle Rock is exceptional because it is difficult, but it plays fair if you are willing to play the course is it demands to be played. Very few public courses can compare. Play it often and you will become a better golfer.
Thumbs Up
Great day on the links. The course was in excellent condition with a little winds to help with the heat. On course staff were great. The guys in the clubhouse could have been a little more attentive with directions to the rangs first tee, etc. Overall a great experience since the heat could have wreck havoc on the course.
