Needs improvement
Bowie Golf Club is a very good course for the mid to high handicapper and recreational golfer. Serious golfers will be disappointed. The greens are very slow and the putting green does not reflect the actual slow speeds on the course. It’s not a good time to rate the quality of the fairways as they are installing a new irrigation system but the course layout is nice. Items like the clubhouse, restrooms, driving range and cart paths are in dire need of repair but like I said, the mid to high handicapper will have a good round there.
Great design
This is very good design with a lot of thought put into hazards and pin placement. I found it very interesting from the perspective of a fan of golf design. The first nine is not as interesting as the back nine, but does have some good holes. It's not exactly target golf, but strategy and placement of drives and approaches are very important. I look forward to playing again in the summer when the course fills in an the many downed trees have been removed. Also, beware that hole #10 has a temp green in the middle of the fairway. With my poor depth perception, I hit my driver and went over the temp green on the fly. Good drive but nit the right play. Have fun
Bowie is a good choice
Good round at Bowie yesterday. Course is in good shape. Although you can see where they have installed some of the new irrigation system , it does not interfere with play. We did not use any of the practice areas, as it was chilly and we took advantage of an offered earlier tee off. Mgmt is working on the bunkers, improving some, eliminating others.
Bowie Golf Course
We seniors play here often. Course is always in respectable shape. One of the best values in the area. Big hitters will find the course a little short, but great for seniors !
Staff goes out of it's way to accommodate. Course was under construction, but did not affect play at all.Great course for seniors,
Nothing special
I have played on a grand total of 3 courses so far, and I’ll just say that this is a good course, but nothing too out of the ordinary or special about it. The cart paths are a little rough in some areas but other than that I had a great time!
Unpretentious
This is a solid working-class privately-owned public course. It is short (about 6,200 from the tips) with a flat front nine and back nine with more elevation changes.
The greens were in surprisingly good shape for the second week in January and you could see where new sod was being placed in anticipation of Spring.
The owners are making other changes to upgrade the course's maintenance. My round on this up 40s January Thursday afternoon included a crew of men working to lay down pipe to water the area around the tee box for #15.
Bowie Golf one of many local courses that I play several times a year and worth it for up to $40---even better for $28!
KS
Overall Course conditions were OK. Cart Paths are horrible and have been for years. Price for a round is reasonable as long as you use TeeOff.com. New management group took over in Sept. and raised the Greens Fees by $15.00, I will not play for $55.00.
Coming along nicely
Have played here often over past 25 years and the new management is doing a good job with this now municipal course owned by the city. Renovations are underway so clubhouse and pro shop are make shift now but the course is really shaping up nicely. Always loved the old course feel and layout. Very walkable which we did and enjoyed on a day hovering under 40 degrees. Greens are in very good shape and fairways are showing improvement over the old days here. Good value for the money
