Great for the price
The course looked great, greens a little slow, but pace of play was crazy. Met some good folks that I allowed me to play with them.
Enjoyable
It had rained the night before and all the sand traps were still full of water and it appeared that there was little sand left in the traps. The greens are not in great shape. Grass seemed thin....but playable.
Rainy day
Two of us played golf at about 3:30 PM. The gentleman at the front desk was extremely pleasant. The pace of play was fast. The course was in good condition. Even when we sliced the balls into the trees, it was easy to find the ball! After nine holes, the clouds rolled in and a lightning storm developed. So, we went into the back of the golf club and had a drink. The lady behind the bar had worked there for 26 years and was very pleasant. Before leaving, we were given a rain check. Great value for the money. Friendly staff.
Worst course I've played
This course is by far the worst I've played in the USA, for the following reasons:
a. The course is badly maintained. Tees are average, fairways are patchy (at best), there is little to no drainage throughout the course, and every bunker is unplayable.
b. Carts are on their last legs, and cart paths are in serious need of renovation.
c. The play is ridiculously slow, and there is no starter or marshaling at all. Basically, I teed off on the first and was then faced with a line of SIX carts for the second tee. I thereon made my mind to start at 10.
d. I was barely acknowledged by the Golf shop staff; I'd hardly describe them as helpful.
In all, because this course is so badly maintained, I wouldn't even recommend this course for beginners - they would have a tough time dealing with everything. If Maryland had no other courses but this to play, I'd rather give up Golf than play it again.
Fair Conditions but Great Value
This course needs some time for the fairways to grow out. Several bare spots, and clumps of grass. Greens in great shape, though. Layout is fair. But great value if you play on a Hot Deal.
bowie review
course was wet because of rain...however course condition , particularly fairways and tee boxes was poor...disappointed....didn't expect much and was not disappointed
Decent morning round
Fun course, greens were above average for this time of year with all the airation going on. Waited on most holes so we slowed down mid round and it went a little smoother. Fairways were pretty embarrassing, sorry but it has to be said. That was my only dig on this course as it was a good deal for only 34 on Golfnow. Will be back later in the year to see if fairways improve.
To slow to play here
It took me 4 hours to just finish 14 holes I have to quit after that I would guess if I finish it would take 5 1/2 hours only good here was the green
Good for beginners
Not a great course conditions wise it felt like the fairways were in worse conditions than the rough. It is a very forgiving course which is good for someone like myself who is really coming into his first full golf season. I would recommend this course to anyone that does not have much experince in the game. as far as pace of place we happened to tee off right behind a golf outing of a group of about 17 guys which made for a slower day but it was not to bad.
good value
Course recovering from winter. Greens in good shape. Challenging for intermediates and those just starting out.
Good course to start season
First time out this year. Good local course with a couple of challenging holes. Fairways okay, greens good shape.
Nice Course
Tee time was right on ,no wait.Friendly Staff and course was in good shape for this time of year. Good time was had by all and we will be back
Bowie
Friendly staff & good value for the cost.
This course is a great value
I play this course often and my wife and I had a great time. The tees are filling in and getting better, the greens are very good, and leaf cleen up is excellent. AN
Bowie Golf Club - A pleasnt surprise
I had not played Bowie GC for many, many years. Before I go any further, the value vs. golf experience was very good. On a beautiful Thanksgiving Day, the course was almost empty. So, the pace of play was at our leisure. The fairways were in good shape for November. The greens were on the slow side, but in fair shape as well. The bunkers were unkempt or shabby condition, perhaps due to the likelihood of limited play on Thanksgiving morning. With all that said, I will probably try to play 9 holes from time to time on my way home from work. Can't think of a better way to get out of "honey-do" chores. If you have a limited budget or time, Bowie is a good bet.
My Opinion
Although it could use some renovations, its not a bad course, for the money.
Great Value
The course is moderately easy but fun to play. It's fairly wide open but there are opportunities to shape your shot (assuming you can do so -- I can't).
Good value
Course was in pretty good condition, especially for the price. A few spots were muddy but they were off to the sides of the greens out of the way and were sectioned off by painted markers.
Pace of play was slightly annoying. Groups got bottled up at some par 3s and the round took a while.
Good course for beginner golfers but enough challenge for experienced players too.
