Golfer Reviews
Nice track
This course is challenging and fun, there are some blind shots but that's ok makes you think before each shot, you can increases your skill level by playing there . The greens are decent, some of the fairways are narrow but that's makes you keep your mind on the game.
Hot Deal at Fairway Hills
I booked a "hot deal" which was an excellent price. I played alone and the pace was great although conditions were very wet from previous day rain and course was cart path only. Carts were brand new and just being unloaded from the truck at the course. Course still recovering from storm damage that causes players to back track from hole #6 back past #1-5 and then #8-9 to get to hole #7; very awkward but with only few players there was no danger driving back into oncoming players and balls but totally not walkable due to distance from hole 6 back to hole 7. Greens were in fair shape at best, some had bare areas and others showed evidence of sod patches. Overall, not bad for late fall/early winter golf. Course is tight and chance to lose balls is high. Course is not worth the usual rate but for hot deal was a very good price.
Bridge Update
BRIDGE UPDATE: bridge still out
Some greens are in rough shape but everything else is solid for this time of year
Greens need help
There are some interesting challenges on some holes and overall the course is pretty good, but two major issues are some of the greens were in really bad shape and there is a bridge out that connects 6-7 so they start you out on the back nine and you have to go on this ridiculous 5-minute excursion backtracking half the course to finish holes 7- 9 ... not for walkers
A fun course to play
I like this course because it is narrow and it challenges the accuracy of your shots. Due to the destruction of the road caused by the rain this summer, it took sbout 5 mins driving from hole 6 to 7. Expect minimum help from the club house although I see improvement lately. Can be slow play.
One of my favorite courses
BRIDGE UPDATE: bridge still out
UnFairway Hills
Extremely tight course, leaving no room for error. Many blind shots. Course conditions were unsatisfactory primarily due to the flooding experienced a couple months ago. Might take a while to get back to normal. Could stand to have more amenities available, i.e. food and beverage selection, retail amentities, etc.
Great day
Played with a friend and another single paired with by the starter. The course was in excellent condition and the pace of play was great.. The staff at the course were very friendly. We hope to get back there soon.
Good
Mostly Good condition green and fairway
Good Value for Local Course
The course is in good condition, especially considering the high heat and dry conditions of the late summer. A couple of surprise water hazards mean that local knowledge is important. Overall a great value in this area.
Best Faiways
This course has some of the best fairways in the State.
Tough holes
Nice layout grass feels like its fake . Grass rite now is burnt out with all the we had lately its a suprise . The only thing i hated was having to drive back through almost all the back 9 holes just finish 7,8,and 9 i wont teturn till bridge is fixed. Also reallt tight fairways bring ir A game lol its a ball eater if you dont
A good week day course
Not a long course / fairways in good shape / greens average / tee boxes and bunkers need work but a good course for locals to enjoy and even better if you get a hot deal from GN.
Just too slow
So I check in for a 2:10 tee time and the front desk guy tells me that I may not finish. I got the round in, but it took 5 hours. There was s ranger on the course, but he did nothing to speed play up.
That was the sad part because the course has a great layout. The greens roll true and are of a decent pace, but it's hard to get in a rhythm.
Not playable
Course in horrible condition. Bridge still out between 6 and 7. Have to play back 9 first, then 1-6, then drive back to starter and backtrack from 9 to 7. No notice of this situation when I booked.
Cool layout. Hard for being short
WORST GREENS i have played allllll year. Patchy and dead. Fix conditions before playing this course. Not worth the money
Much more than expected
Course was nicely groomed with great aesthetics . Plants blend in with the course and create additional challenges. They are making some improvements so you will need to be patient but it was well worth it for the cost. I will have to try again after next year, hopefully the improvements will be complete.
This course is in bad shape
I played golf at Fairway Hills in the afternoon. The front office staff was very friendly. We were able to get on at the time that we booked. The starter was a bit militant but appeared to be doing his job and making sure that things were running as smoothly as they could. The course was a mess. Many of the greens had patches of dirt and were quite uneven. It was not unusual that the ball would bounce around when you pot. The bridge between the sixth and seventh hole was out and did not appear to be close to being repaired. So, to get to the seventh hole, you had to turn around and drive completely back to the clubhouse, then down holes 10, nine, eight and eventually to seven to start back play. The pace of play was good and a group of four allowed us to play through. The course itself has a lot of doglegs with narrow fairways and a lot of hills.
Fun course
Unfortunately due to the terrible floods that hit the area, half the course was in so so shape. They did the best they could but seeing they're reaching towards the end of the season, I feel like they won't finish repairing the course till next year. They need to bring down the price during this time especially since some of the playing conditions are pretty bad. I'll always enjoy playing here and I hope they can recover from the floods.
The course is not in horrible condition at all, not sure what happened to this guy. But the course has an amazing lay out, very challenging course, much harder than the scorecard indicates. The 6th green was under work, and like he said they had the floods this summer so one bridge is out, so you just drive your cart back to the clubhouse and then up 9-8-7, that is by no mean "HORRIBLE". Also they have very fair rates. I would go again anytime.
