Great renovated course
Nice Renovation
First time playing since the renovation. Unfortunately it rained the night before and the course played very long. The greens were a little slow but they are a terrific change from the prior greens. Extremely large now. Can't wait for the grass to fully grown in. Although we walked they should not have allowed carts in many of the fairways as they were wet. Hopefully they have added more drainage because there were some familiar wet spots. Overall, a great play.
Great course renovation!
I’m a mid-handicapper (+15) and I used to play Eisenhower, before it closed in October 2018, about 6-8 times a year. It was never a great, and most of the time it wasn’t even a good course. But, it was fairly inexpensive, and it was close.
ALL THAT HAS CHANGED!! I know it’s basically a brand new course, but the layout has changed a bit to make things more challenging, they’ve elevated (and enlarged) a lot of the greens and added these closely mowed areas around them, they got rid of all the bunkers and they added more tee boxes! The greens have been changed to bent grass and they roll soooooo smooth and fast!
To me, all this adds up to a top notch course that could challenge the high handicapper down to the single digit handicapper! I thoroughly enjoyed it, and will be back real soon!
Nice Changes as a Result of the Renovation
I have played Eisenhower for years. After a 2+ year closure for renovations, it has been nice to play The Preserve at Eisenhower weekly again. The changes made have, I believe, made the course more challenging: 1) even though all bunkers have been removed (there's not one on the course), the addition of hummocks has increased the challenge...you will lose a ball if you find one of these, and they are strategically placed in and near landing zones; 2) they expanded the environmental/wetland areas, which has increased the carries on several holes, and just made the course more beautiful with returning parts of the course to nature; 3) the greens are larger, but more undulating and fast...they are probably at an 11-12 stimp; 4) all fairways have been redone with Bermuda; and 5) #5 is now a par 4 and #6 is a par 3, and they are both challenging with carries of wetland areas and hummocks around the green on #5. The fairways have also been narrowed, so even though it might look like the "old Eisenhower," beware because it's not! They did a great job with the renovations--the course is beautiful and challenging. They don't have the bathrooms or clubhouse built yet, but the county has appropriated dollars for the future to finish this part of the renovation...let's hope it's soon!
To be continued
Greens are very slow thus somewhat disappointing. Overall, course may need more time to fill in to keep up with the high expectations of course conditions. Bathrooms are an issue. Need attendant(s) to regularly maintain and keep presentable.
Great improvemts, some important details to address
I've recently played twice at the newly designed course. The greens and conditions are fantastic and I enjoyed playing there. Two things to keep in mind that I hope will be addressed. First, all the flags on the greens are white making it impossible to know where the pin is on selected holes. It would be helpful to install red, white and yellow/black flags to determined front, middle and back locations. Also due to the course redesign, hole 5 is now a par 4 and 6 is now a par 3. My Garmin device still recognizes the old layout where hole 5 was a par 3 and holw 6 was a par 4. Therefore yardage mesurments on these whole are incorrect. I assume that may be fixed at some point but for now be aware. I will say based on the old course conditions, the resigned Preserve is fantastic. It's fair and a ton of fun to play. I will be back often.
Great shape!
Just re-built so playing like a private club still at this point. Hope it stays the same. Love it. Great job guys!
Good course in good shape
Played this course many times. Recovered from aeration well.
Great course
Other than the cold, we will be back, great course, staff was very helpful.
Better values exist
A phone booking confirmed the $41 senior rate but the front desk would not honor the rate. The fee is $57 before noon on Saturday for everyone.
The course layout is interesting, but has a few hidden hazards. It helps to be paired with someone who is familiar with the course. Course conditions were inconsistant. Some fairways were fine and others were marshy and bare. The greens were usually soft and very slow.
The play of play was adequate for a Saturday (4:30 round) and there was a marshall on the course encouraging groups to keep pace.
The facilities were mediocre (restrooms, pro shop, snack bar) and the golf carts barely functioned (used cars being leased for a year until course closes for renovation).
Overall, there are other golf courses in the region that provide a better value.
1st tee time does not mean you get to tee off 1st
Cost/round is only $12 because I am a member and only have to pay for the cart (even though I walk, that's another review.)
This course has a group that gets to tee off before the 1st tee times on the weekends. Even if you get the 1st tee time you will have to wait for a group to tee off. This group also shows up to the course minutes before the 1st tee time, so you will be paid, checked in, geared up and waiting for them to do the same. Then, they will take their time as they play for a few dollars. Even if they see you waiting for them they will not let you play through.
They used to tee off just before sunrise, but some in the group hit into a par 3 when the grounds crew was cutting the green. Now they cannot tee off until a certain time, which is a minute before the 1st tee time.
Just to recap, the course allows a group to tee off before the 1st tee time even when they hit into the grounds crew. There is nothing you can do about it, they are an entitled group.
I love the course, I'm a member, have been for about 7 years. I spend well over $3K/year at the course. But the course will not enforce a pace of play to save their lives.
Anne Arundel county now owns the course, hopefully something is done and the 1st tee time will truly be the 1st tee time.
Disappointment
Course was not in great shape. Greens had just been aerated (which we were not aware of) and the fairways were bare in many areas.
Course layout was nice, but the rest was a disappointment.
Just Visiting
The course was in good shape and the people were friendly. The only problem I had was it was in the mid 90's and very humid. The trees are quite tall all the way around the course and there is very little air moment. Nothing the course can do about it but someone playing the course should be aware of this in extreme temperature conditions. I would play the course again when the weather is a little cooler.
Changes on the way
I've played Eisenhower many times in the past. I used to play in the early morning when I was younger, but switched to later in the day. Until yesterday, it seemed like everyone else had the same idea. Pace of play could be brutal. Yesterday was only 3.5 hours for me and my son due to the heat. We followed another twosome the whole time, but they moved at a good clip, too. Bunkers need to be more consistent (dirt in some, sand in others) and people need to learn how to repair ball marks and divots. The course is about to invest in some changes so I can't wait to see how that turns out.
Thanks for the great review. We are currently working on drainage in our bunkers. Like us on FB for up to date information

Seaview Stay & Play Golf Package
I usually show up as stand by on weekend mornings. I've seen groups ready to tee off having to wait for this "sunrise group". Doesn't seem right.
