Terrible Condition
Greens in terrible condition and borderline unplayable on certain holes. Hopefully someone starts investing in this place because AA county has almost no options for golf :(
Nice Course
Course was challenging and well designed. Turf lacked in areas and a few greens were really in poor shape. Overall great experience and will be back.
Normally a great course
This is normally one of my favorite courses to play. It also happens to be the closest to my home. However I think with the weather we’ve had, construction going on, and normal maintenance the course wasn’t in very good shape. Hopefully it’ll all come together in the next month and return to the conditions I’m used to here. I can’t wait to see the new clubhouse.
Do not golf here. Staff is horrible and course is in terrible shape
One of the worst golf experiences I’ve ever had. I have been golfing for 10 years now, and this is at the top of worst experiences. I arrived, and the staff made a mistake with the golf carts, and then acted like I was in the wrong. This young guy giving out carts should be fired. The course itself was in horrible shape. The greens are worse than DC east Potomac practice greens. It was ridiculous. To put the cherry on top, the marshals were acting like it was Augusta National. Overall, I will never go back here and advise everyone to stay away.
Sorry to Say...Poor Course Conditions
I play The Preserve at Eisenhower often, since I live in AA County. However, this is the worst I've seen it in years. I don't know what happened, but the fairways are thin and have some bad spots--big ones! The greens have crab grass growing in them and are just in awful shape with patches of no grass or dry and cracked surface. And, for much of the time I've played, it's been cart path only. At least I get the AA County resident rate, but for many people the rack rate can be pretty high, so just be aware. I'm no expert on course maintenance, but I question if the Superintendent really knows what he's doing. Also be aware that there is major construction going on, as they are building the clubhouse. They have put in new cart paths to get around construction, but there are porta-johns and two bathrooms in the pavilion only. I play 125-135 rounds of golf a year and use to play a lot of those rounds at Eisenhower...I'm thinking about stopping until maybe October or even Spring 2026 because of course conditions. There are other courses around that are in much better shape.
Greens in bad condition
The course is in bad shape. The practice green and first green are unplayable. The rest of the greens are in bad shape. Apparently a lot of players didn’t take the time to repair their ball marks and divots. The greens never recovered from the summer heat.
On the plus side they are building a new club house due to be completed in 2026.
Nice place
Friendly staff. Six pack beer specials. Course was in pretty good shape.
Dog Track
This course was renovated a few years ago to pristine Bermuda fairways.
Now… it’s mud and weeds everywhere. The greens are horrible. I paid $65 per person. It should be $15 per person.
I know a lot of courses struggled after the winter we had, but there’s been plenty of time to rehab the course. The thing is, I don’t understand how they don’t just spray the weeds. There are actually tufts of weeds, three to fours times the length of the grass, all through the fairways.
I could go on and on but I’ll just sum it up and say this place is disappointing and among the worst conditions I’ve seen. Terrible.
Not in great shape
I know the weather has been extreme this summer but course and greens were not in great shape, random weedy grass growing on greens some dead areas and fairways inconsistent on grass height. Just in ok shape but yet still charging full normal season rates. Also in construction phase on new clubhouse so that is a bit of a mess.
Under construction… sorta
There is a new club house being constructed and in my opinion that shouldn’t impact the course conditions. The tee boxes were thin, some of the fairways were thin and weedy and some of the greens were patchy and very thin. The rough was tall. No complaints about that as it serves as an incentive to keep the ball in play. Several balls were lost in the rough because of its height. To be fair more were found than were lost. It has always been an enjoyable course and I look forward to playing again when the conditions/care is improved.
Don't bother
I loved Eisenhower after the makeover, but within the last couple of months, it looks like the Superintendent took the summer off. The fairways were spotty and the greens were cooked and some rolled like asphalt. Someone needed to get out there and hand water the greens. Weeds were growing in on a lot of the greens. Very disappointed from where it was early in the season.
Slow play and course conditions need improvement
Slow, play and no course amenities since the clubhouse is being constructed. I doubt it will be done before the end of 2025. Weather has taken a negative effect on the course conditions.
ADA
The course is not good for ADA people. Especially for cart path only holes. For this round there were 3 additional holes cart path only. Not mentioned when booking. And of course, all the par 3s are cart path only. And then there are curbs. There need to be openings in the curbs for getting to the tees. Last year, I tripped and fell, I have to use a walking stick to get to my ball along with carrying my clubs.
Worse conditions ever for this course
The course was in the worse shape I’ve ever seen it in. They’re renovating the clubhouse, and seem to have forgotten about the golf course. For full price rates, they should be embarrassed. Absolute trash right now, when normally this course is in very nice shape.
Great Time
Course offers many challenges and no samd hazards. Looking forward to visiting again.
