Good layout with some tricky holes
Had not played here for a while but wanted a warmup round before the Wounded Warrior largest day of golf event, Overall course conditions were good though the greens were very slow. Course will give you who;e bag a workout
Under construction
The layout is good but very quirky. But, having played in Ireland and Scotland, I had no problem with it. The greens were in nice shape but a little slow. The grass around the greens needs a lot of improvement. Since so much construction is ongoing, it feels like you're playing at a construction site. Hopefully that will be resolved by next season. As long as you can play for around $50 it's worth it IMO.
Nice county course.
Nice course with some elevation changes. Several blind holes. Currently club house under renovation so got three stars for the difficulty to get back for a drink. Surely will be nice once clubhouse is open. Staff was all very friendly. And helpful. Will definitely try there again once the renovations are done.
Gem
This is one of my favorite courses to play. Course is in good condition (coming from a casual player). Pace is good most days. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Upgrades coming
New clubhouse on the way so there's a lot of construction. The greens, fairways and tee boxes are in excellent shape. Hopefully the price won't increase too much when the construction is done.
Iron Ike
What a great course and staff. Thanks for the experience. What another gem in the area.
A Good Renovagion
I have played this course occasionally in the past, but only for the second time since it was renovated and reopened several years ago. Its an interesting layout with no sand/bunkers, plenty of elevation changes, water hazards, and large greens.
I'll be back, especially after learning that the senior, walking rate for non-county residents who playing during the week is only $38, which is a very good price for this course.
Great Course
I really enjoyed the challenge playing here - the other twosome were very friendly and helpful! I will be back!
Could be a banger...
Just wanted to start off by saying, incredibly courteous staff: Marshals, Front desk, cart staff, etc.
The course:
-Definitely liked the no-bunkers thing
-Random sprouts in the fairways
-Tee Boxes fine
-Greens were probably the best.
-Some fairways were very long and needed a trim.
Pro-Shop:
Staff was exceptional.
Kind of bummed with all the construction. I know it's essential, however. $5 off the tee-time would have been welcomed.
With the heat we experienced, (totally on us - I understand), I would have welcomed a beverage cart service in lieu of a trip to the clubhouse, and sacrificing our pace of play. I feel like this review will be moot upon the completion of the new clubhouse and facilities, but you asked.
As expected
We played on the most perfect weather day. The clubhouse is still being built and looks like a bit of a construction site but we expected that. I had not played since they made the course changes. The changes they made on the course were fantastic and fairways and Greens were in great shape. The tee boxes left something to be desired. I think it was a little on the expensive side for its current look, but in the future, with more amenities, the price can meet the expectation.
Still Great
We have not gotten good rain in Maryland for a bit of time and the course was relatively dry and fast. But even with the mini-drought the greens were very playable; fast but not ridiculous. As usual, the staff was very friendly and helpful. Course layout is tough especially if you play from the blues or blacks like I prefer to do. Overall, a beautiful classic course. Also, it seems the silly mounds with unplayable high tufted sawgrass were removed, so even better. I cannot wait to see what improvements are made when the renovation is completed. The only small issue that stops me from giving a perfect 5 stars is the starter allowing a twosome of juveniles to be inserted between our group and the next group at the turn. This forced the single that was playing behind us to move up and join us to maintain pace. Kinda of an unnecessary unforced error, but the gentleman that joined us was a great team mate and made our round better, so good/good.
ADA Access
The curbs need some gaps to allow player to cross. Especially for handicapped players like me. Also, its a problem when I walk the course.
Crazy Construction
There is absolutely no signage letting you know that this course is there. Nothing leading up on the highway and nothing on the highway at the entrance. There is construction equipment EVERYWHERE on the small road to the first tee. A single-wide trailer graces the tiny parking lot, where there's room for approximately 3 people inside. The course itself looked to be in decent condition, but after hole 3 it was the driest conditions I've ever played outside of the middle east.
