The Timbers at Troy

Wasn’t advised there was a tournament of some sort playing ahead of the foursome in front of us until the 6th hole. The starter never advised as to why we were waiting so long to tee off. This was no doubt the most boring round of golf played I’ve played in some years.

Always a challenging layout. Thick rough. Fairways are burned up. Tee boxes have been obliterated. Greens were in good condition. Pace of play was abysmal. No ranger on the course at all. Seems courses now don't want to anger anyone anymore. The only reason I played this time is a got a deal for $55 to ride with lunch. Can't beat that on a Sunday afternoon.

Fairways in terrible condition (so bad it was cart path only, not due to rain but their condition) and still charging full rate. No notice on site when booking of either issue- should inform people of these type of conditions prior.

Good course with value for the recreational golfer. A nice combination of challenging holes and holes to score well on regardless of your level. Fairways and greens are in fair condition but totally playable.

It was cart path only because they are trying to get the fairways back in shape but gave free lunch and practice balls to offset. Beautiful course

Course layout is great with some challenges. The white tees are short so blues is a lot more challenging. I was very disappointed having cart path only for all holes after 2 days of of no rain. After paying $70 and receiving a hot dog meal voucher to go with round I soon found out why cart path and hot dog treat was given. I do understand some courses don’t drain well and sometimes a few holes may be cart path only after rain even a few days later. However after a few holes I realized the reason cart path only is because most of the fairways are in very bad shape. I complain to maybe PT pro who was working and was told he doesn’t make much and can’t do anything about it. For the money payed it’s not worth the money as well as pace of play because cart path only. Not sure what happened but I would not recommend this course at all because of this. I have played a lot of rounds recently on a lot of different courses and have had green issues because of weather but no fairways torn up that you can’t even ride a cart down it. Hard to go on reviews and I’ve never done one on a course but had to because management knows it’s a problem and isn’t compensating enough for it. A hot dog meal isn’t good enough. Also after second complaint there was small compensation given which was acceptable. So check for cart path only before hand and you know why the offers are for walking.

This course is in a great location and has a challenging but fun layout. Staff are really friendly and clubhouse is good. The fairways look like someone randomly poured acid all over them. I generally play at the cheapest courses I can find and this had the worst fairways I’ve ever seen. Greens were good which was refreshing but fairways are barely there. I have no idea what’s going on but staff did mention it to me on the turn so they’re at least aware. We played with a coupon so was still worth it but I hope they can get those fairways turned around fast.

Ive played here in the past, but has been a while. Layout is good and I enjoyed the tee shot set ups, however the fairways have issues and are about 40% dirt, so you have to roll your ball over to find some grass. The greens are in nice shape, except all of the ball marks others are too lazy and must feel entitled not to fix. The greens are also pretty slow, maybe they didn't cut them due to wetness that morning? Overall a pretty nice track to play even with the cart path only rule.

The course is currently not in very good condition. I haven't played it in years, and for the steep greens fees, was expecting more. It was cart path only because they are trying to bring back the fairways. Greens and sand traps need attention too. It's a nice track, but needs work!

The course is brilliantly laid out...however the drainage after a rain completely sucks. Greens are perfect, but tee boxes are hard clay. Staff could be less pointed with aggressive attitudes, and the driving range is the biggest eyesore given the overall cost.

The course is in great shape, we had an awesome time and will definitely play here again.
