Just OK
Pretty expensive for a Parks and Rec course. Forty-three dollars to walk is steep. Conditions were just OK for a course that in May has only been open for a week.
Great course!!
Beautifully designed course. Pace of place was good and course is maintained excellently!
Many issues
They bait and switch their rates. They only post their walking rates when booking. I asked the guy we checked in with and he said "yeah if we posted the full cost it would scare people away so we only advertise the walking rate". Yes, that is a quote.
Course staff was not friendly at all.
Do not bring women with you during this covid19 issue. The clubhouse is not open and the don't have any port o potties. We had to walk across the road to an Exxon so one of the women in our group could use their bathroom.
Even when this course is fully open, I won't be playing there again.
Great work
Signage and SD measures were clear, pace of play was near perfect given the circumstances. Can tell they’re happy to comply with the reopening regulations and going about everything responsibly
Didn’t get to play
Buddy got a flat tire on his way over so we ended up being 6 minutes late past our tee time to the starter on tee box 1. (Keep in mind COVID19 so social distancing is in place.) and we went to pay on time, got in line at 12:44 tee time at 12:45. but there was a little line due to 6ft policy and all. Got there a little late from conditions uncontrollable to everyone except God himself. Waited 40 minutes to see if the starter would let us out, and he didn’t so we left golf-less. The course itself looked beautiful though, sad I wasn’t able to play. Also I booked in advanced through GolfNow so I had to pay a fee to book my tee time. Hopefully I get a chance to play here but sheesh we’re they strict and not pleasant to deal with.
Course conditions lacking but a good course none the less
To start off i will cover the conditions,
the course was a bit more rough then it has been in the past,
could just be that it was a tame winter so there was more play and the grass hasnt started really growing yet so it is what it is,,
the greats we pretty clean every once and awhile there were little chunks of dirt on them,
Tee boxes were pretty beat up,
all in all the conditions were sub par compared to normal,
now to talk about the actual course,
This is a pretty good place to play in general price is a bit hit for the length and size in my opinion but in the past the high quality course conditions and central location made it worth playing,
This course does not have crazy cool views and plays through neighborhoods but what i will give it allot of credit for and is the main reason i would choose to play this course is 1. elevated tee shots 2. super challenging sand bunkers and allot of them,
when i play golf in Maryland i think of woods golf with lots of ups and downs and craved out little stream beds for which this course is.
playing a 100 yard par three tee shot from 100 feet up off the green makes for great challenge. if this is the type of golf you like Timbers could be right for you ,
now what makes this course unique in my mind is the sand bunkers,
in addition to having countless holes in which you have to approach the green by hitting downward or upward you have these massive white sand bunkers that are strategically located to be in your way,
having these bunkers takes this relativity small course and turns it into a heck of a challenge,
wont say this as a fact but i want to say the largest bunker to hit out of is 9 feet high,
this is not a beginners course at all good for walking,
Overall i would say it is a bit over priced but i will for sure play again just for the challenge
Uneven
The layout has always been good but conditions are not so good, probably because of the volume of play. The Cashier did not seem to have a good handle on things and was flaky. The way he spoke to the customers in line in front of me was.... not appropriate. Hopefully, it's better in season.
Newbie
Track was very good, variety of layouts, the housing was not intrusive, greens were in very good shape considering early March, the fairways were a bit rough, again, not terribly bad considering it was early March. I would play the course again if there is a good value offered.
Good course
I think they keep the course in decent shape year round. It is a good challenge for amateurs.
great day. wet from recent rain. but in good shape.
course was in great shape following two days of rain
All-around solid golf experience
Played timbers at troy on a busy, warm November day (11/26). The course was in great shape, pace of play was good for a busy day, and price was very reasonable. You can tell this place goes to great lengths to improve pace of play, as it's a tight lay-out where people could easily spend too long looking for balls and dilly-dallying. I appreciate that.
I paid $34 for 18-holes. The professional at the desk was helpful, and the starter practically gave me a tour/guide of the course. Will add timbers to my rotation.
Great golf course
Timbers of Troy is one of the higher-tier public courses in the baltimore area. I definitely recommend it, and we will be back next year. It is a wooded course that requires accuracy off the tee and superior green reading skills. The staff is very professional and well-trained. The snack bar has great food and beer for port-round festivities.
Love the Timbers in the Fall
Played Friday in under 4 hours. The course is in the best shape its been in all year. Now is the time to go play timbers.
OK Course
Timbers has improved a lot. When I played this course a month ago it was in terrible shape. The fairways were dirt and the greens were in bad shape. Today the course was much better. Still has a ways to go, but the greens were in good shape. The fairways were much better. Still had lots of dirt patches. The course is trending in the right direction.
Tough layout
Timbers of troy is a difficult course. Prepare to lose some balls. If your enjoy a challenge, its the course for you. Greens weren’t too fast though. Conditions were good, friendly crew, and the hotdog was delicious.
