Surprising
Haven't played Timbers in over a year. Was very surprised at the condition! The fairways were in excellent shape, particularly compared to other courses in the area. And, the bunkers were exceptional--the sand was beautiful white, thick and soft. It was actually very nice to play out of the bunkers. I will agree, though, with the greens. The holes were big and not completely filled with sand, so pretty bumpy. Once they heal, they will be nice. Finally, the tunnel between 3-4 and 10-11 was closed, so you had to detour back up 10 and down 4 to get to the holes on the other side of the road. We were walking, and it added an extra 30 minutes to our round. Luckily, not many people today and we didn't hold anyone up, but they should have considered an alternate detour path than that--almost got killed by errant tee balls walking back up #10 to get to #11!!
Aerated Greens
Do not play this course until the greens fill in. The
holes were large especially on the back nine. Some were not filled with sand but even then the putts would wobble in every direction. The should knock $20 off the price when the greens are this bad. Not worth the money. We paid $48 (weekly, senior, mid-day,non-resident)
Aerated Greens Could Be Better
Overall, the course was in pretty good shape, but the recently aerated greens needed a lot more sand on them. They weren't even close to smooth. Some holes appeared to have no sand in them at all.
Lots of walkers. Still wet out there
Course in good shape...too many walkers....but we drove our way around them.
Good enough layout
Nothing special but in good condition and for the time of year. The layout was very straightforward and allows for errand shots with no real penalty.
Course was empty probably because it was only 28 degrees out liked the layout, course was in good shape considering it is mid winter can’t wait to play there when it gets nice out
Course held up under trying conditions!
The course looked remarkably good with the all the water we’ve had lately!
Looks a lot better than last year!
The new bunkers make the course look so much better! Some of the parts of the course struggled a bit with the excess water we’ve had lately but other than that, the course is in pretty good shape. The greens were in good shape even though they were a bit slow because they obviously couldn’t cut them because of all the rain. So happy the course is in much better shape because I live very close and it’ll be nice to play here more often!
Thank you for your excellent observations. Nice job recognizing the green speed being due to less mowing because of the recent rain. Great to have you out!
Pace of play is consistently terrible.
Pace of play is consistently terrible. Cart died and took 45 minutes to get a replacement. Then the replacment cart almost died on the last couple holes.
We're sorry you had a bad experience. We do monitor pace of play and foursomes are expected to finish in 4 to 4.5 hours. Groups of less than four will usually play faster, though it will feel slow if they are behind foursomes.
Carts can run out of power sometimes even when they appear charged. We're not sure why it would have taken that much time to get a replacement cart to you, unless the new cart attendant needed to stop for several groups on the way out (to avoid disturbing them) and just wasn't sure how to proceed. You are welcome to contact us directly to discuss your concerns.
Again we apologize and thank you for playing Timbers.
Timbers 9-26-2017
Tee boxes left much to be desired. Rest of the course was in good shape. Enjoyable Tuesday afternoon round
Thank you for coming out. We're very happy you enjoyed your round. The tee boxes on a few par 3s will have divots in spots this time of year and we're working on that. The rest of the course is in good shape as you said, and that includes full recovery from aerification. Thank you again and we hope to see you back at Timbers very soon.
.Aeration
Poor aeration process made the greens way too bumpy Pricing should have been even less due to that. Normal pricing is too high based on competition. Comparison to the Woodlands, Rattlewood, and even Waverly Woods (still too expensive).
Thank you for your feedback. Aerification is a necessary process and fortunately it's temporary. Our greens are healing nicely though we understand that some holes may have had some top dressing washed out from the large amounts of rain we experienced.
We hope you'll compare our Players Club pricing to the courses in the area and discover that our members enjoy prices and benefits comparable or superior to our competition,, even after massive improvements to the course and clubhouse. Thanks again for your patronage.
Difficult
Layout was interesting. Greens were difficult due to aeration.
nice course
this was my first time playing here and i was relatively surprised. I really enjoyed the course even though it was a little pricey but im sure to go back.
Wet day, but great nonetheless
It rained the night before and was cart path only, but pace was good and conditions were good. Staff is energetic and polite. I look forward to coming back.
Seaview Stay & Play Golf Package
I played today, and I completely disagree with this comment. The greens were fine.
