They allow fivesomes on the course! Extremely Slow Play.
I played Timbers on Thursday (7/7/22) and had over a 5 hour round of golf. The group in front of us on the back 9 was playing a fivesome with 3 golf carts. They were all clearly beginners and 2 of them were sharing clubs out of the same bag. They took forever on each hole and did not offer for us to play through so I called the clubhouse. The clubhouse sent out 2 people that said they would talk to the group in front and fix the issue.
The very next hole, we were waiting on the tee box again, but this time 2 groups behind us pulled up to the tee box while we remained waiting. So now you have a 3 group back-up on a single hole due to this course allowing a fivesome to play together.
I spoke with an employee in the clubhouse after and expressed my disappointment that they allow fivesomes on the course, and that they did not solve the issue when it was brought to their attention.
My previous round at Timbers 2 weeks prior had a cart die on the 14th hole, which ended up costing us a half hour.
Based on these most recent experiences, I would not recommend anyone to play at Timbers. Although the course is nice, it is way too pricey for my foursome to put up with this type of management in the future. We plan on taking our weekly outing to 1 of the many other courses in the area.
Timber of Troy review
Course was nice if you like carry, it had very steep hills so sometime you were hitting blindly to the green, there is a lot of thick brush. I’m my opinion it was not worth the price.
Nice public course
Timbers of Troy is a very nice public course to play. Right now it is in excellent conditions. All the grass is at the right height. There are minimal weeds. The holes are fun and not terribly tight. Starters are super friendly. No complaints
Timbers doesn't disappoint
I play Timbers at least once or twice a month. The staff is always pleasant, and the pace of play is always on point. I recently played an evening round with a tee time of 5:57pm. I figured I would be going out as a single for some quiet play but was met with another three gents.
We had an outstanding round of golf and bonding and even captured some numbers for meeting again.
This is a great course for anyone looking to enjoy the game and facilities offered. I highly recommend this course!

Great time with grandson
This was a delightful day. From the Director of Golf to the pro shop staff to the starter, everyone was friendly and helpful. Of course, it helped that I chipped in for birdie in front of the 12 year old grandson on the par 5 second hole.
Fairways, greens and tee boxes were very nicely maintained. Will definitely be back.
Nice course with usual slower pace of play
Played here on a Wednesday early afternoon hoping to avoid the crowds and usual pace of play slowdowns but it was still slow by the end of 2nd hole and straight through until about the 15th. It was a beautiful day though so very enjoyable. Tees, fairways and greens all in decent shape. Driving range is in good condition and they seem to have new range balls so that's a huge plus. Surprisingly, there was not a single ball washer throughout the course (and the carts don't include one either). The course layout is good, though and if you are located in Howard County, then the central location is fantastic.
5 & 1/2hrs
Slow pace of play… tee times are too close together. Fun course and well maintained.
Super wet Cart Path Onky
I knew glowing into the round it would be slow so I decided to walk as it was cart path only. Even though the course was soggy, it still played great. Enjoyed the day aside from the twosome with whom we were paired. They each shot a very slow 120. SMH
Very nice course
I came here 4 weeks ago or so and the greens were being aerated. Now the greens are very nice. The other aspects of the course are well kept and nice a green. The starter was very nice and accomodating. We had such a great experience here.
Way overpriced!!
I play this course at least twice a year. Increased cost based on the pandemic and decreased value...off-season pricing for municipal level course was too high.
Really like this course
Challenging but fair. No houses on course except a few holes. A lot of forced Carries. Wide fairways. Fairways in great shape, greens need some work.
As with most courses spent much time picking up others trash and filling their divots. C’mon people !
Timbers in March 2022
Course is in very good shape for a March day. Weather was PC w/ temps in high 60's. Course was packed but play was on-par for a 4 hour round. The starter let me go early as a single in a cart. There was a very good single walker in front and then a group of 3 walkers, so I knew the pace as going to be slow w/ me riding , so I shifted gears and focused on pacing myself with extra tee shots, chips and putts to get for a realistic practice session. The greens, the traps and the fairways were all in very good shape, so Kudos to the staff on getting through the weather playing period. I stopped playing after 3 hours because I got my fill hitting more practice shots than actual play while pacing myself behind the walkers in front.
The best surprise I notice was that the greens were not full of DIVOTs which is normally the case after a wet and warming start to spring. So thank you GOLFERS and staff for fixing and maintaining the greens so others can enjoy. I will be back to play a regular round soon and I expect the course to only get better as nature wakes up from hibernation and errand shots become harder to find/play.
Perfect and perfect
A fine day to enjoy an outing with my group. We finished our outing in 3.5 hours with no one in front of us. The course was well-maintained so no problems. We can’t wait to play there again.
Great course
Timbers at Troy was in good shape to begin season. Looking forward to playing more.
