The course was in excellent shape
The course was wide open so even if you make a bad shot off the tee you could recover pretty easy, however if you missed the green it was hard to get up and in
An average daily fee course that is not terribly challenging but can be enjoyable.
Staff was friendly, starter helpful, marshal didn't do much and in fact disappeared before noon. We left the 12th green and as we arrived at the 13th tee, a man in cart 131 was there hitting balls at the par 3 green. His comment was "sorry to jump in front of you" and he proceeded to the green to play his 3 or 4 balls he had hit. If a marshal had been doing his duty we would not have been required to wait on him on #13, #14, #15, etc. It does not present your course in a well managed operation. In fact it says the management was more concerned about being out of the heat and let the course manage itself.
one of md great course
great course but the rought was like the us open i was finding balls all over i guest that why it took me 5 and a half hours the play was really really slow but the ranger did come around after nine trying to push them to move
Great course!
Even with the amount of rain we have recieved the course was in great shape. Nice grass driving range, nice chipping area and putting area. Course is in great shape and the greens I'm told usually run a little quicker but all the rain slowed them a tad. But they ran well and true. Bunkers were moist but playable again a lot of rain lately. Make sure you stay in the short stuff, the rough is long and will def. cost you a stroke or 2. Only thing that became annoying was the airport next store. A lot of helicopter and small planes. I will def. return!
Great course. Well maintained
Great course for beginners with enough challenges for experienced players. Rough is very thick and difficult to play from. Only downside to this course (and it's minor) is proximity to local airfield. Throughout our round, their was the constant buzzing of small helicopters overhead. I'm assuming these are private copters or used for training purposes. They were flying over and around the course slowly and it was annoying at times. Other than that, an enjoyable course to play.
great course
The golf course was in great shape . would enjoying playing once a week they really take care of it.they are very friendly and make you feel welcome. a good speed of play. the green were in great shape and fast like i like them
Greens A++++
Course is always in great shape particularly the greens. Greens were A+, Fairways A-, Tees B. Rough is thick but not ridiculously high. Pace of play was fantastic on the front 9 until we caught a crazy slow twosome on the back. Still played in less than 4 hrs. Value on Golf Now was A+++.
Great Shape, needs marshals.
The course is in excellent shape, but the rough is thick(US Open thick). The staff was friendly and attentive, except the course really needed marshals. The front took 2.5 hours mostly because of the group in front of us, after they left after nine the back took under 2 hours. My son and I played the course about 4 years ago, as part of a group, and always wanted to go back. We took our wives and we weren't disappointed. The tee box, fairways and greens were great, but both of the wives had trouble whenever they were unlucky enough to get into the rough. Example, on the 18th I missed the green with my second shot, I was right about 10 yards behind a bunker, and need a full swing with a gap wedge to carry the ball just those 10 yards. I would good, and hopefully will, go back again.
Fun Track, Great Conditions!
Fun little track. Really enjoyed my time here. Will definitely come back. Tee to green, fantastic conditions!!
This course always seems to be in great condition.
We played on a holiday for only $30 per player. It was a great deal on a course with excellent conditions.
Great Course
The greens were in great shape. This is a fairly wide open course but the thick rough make your tee shot critical.
What a pleasant surprise in the heart of Frederick.
This was out first visit to Clustered Spires. It was a pleasant surprise. The public course was in great condition from tee to green. Once the poa annua dies off on the greens in the next couple of weeks, the greens will be quicker and not as bumpy. The front nine is open and relatively flat to ease you into your round. The back nine tightens up a bit and truly brings the lay of the land into play. There are several elevation changes and trees to hit around which makes it quite different and challenging. My only suggestions would be a few more sprinkler heads for distance measurements and a better marked driving range for yardage distance. Overall a treat to play and a course we will definitely be coming back to play.
beautiful course and very affordable
really nice course. it's my first time there because it's quite a drive for me to get there, but I definitely would come back and play there again!
not too hard, not too easy
saturday at 1pm. place was packed, as expected. it was a little slow, but not too slow. the course was in good condition. The
most challenging part of the course for me, was the thick rough, which not only was hard to get thru, was also hard to find your ball because the ball would sit down so easily.
Overall, good value for the GolfNow rate.
The course was in good condition..greens rolled smoothly, and the tee boxes were in very good shape. The rough was very penal, making hitting the fairways more important.
There is a good blend of long and short holes on the course with some real chances for birdies throughout the round. Make sure you get your birdies on the card before the last three holes though...they are very challenging!
Good but on the boring side
The course is in good shape and the holes are wide open. This takes some of the challenge of the course. One problem with the course, is actually not the course itself but its location. The course is located near an airport and there are frequent helicopter flyovers which can be distracting and frustrating.
Best maintained course around
Always in great shape and fun to play I would recommend clustered spires a must play.
GREAT COURSE
The course is always in great shape. Hats off to the staff. Keep up the good work.
Normally in good condition
Clustered Spires is usually in good condition. This time the greens had been aerated and were not suited for putting, but more frustrating is that the minor ruff was thick and cut high and balls could not be found resulting in slow play and lost balls. The fairways did not offer much ball support and were suffering from a grass blight. Having, said this, these conditions should improve as the season progresses and return CS to its usual great play. A few other courses in the area were also in this condition.
Course is very good for us old guys! Challenging but forgiving.
Course is very good for us old guys! Challenging but forgiving. The fairways and greens in great shape and the staff was very courteous.
