Very nice course
Unfortunately, they had just aerated the greens, which I wasn't aware of, but I guess for $40 with a cart I should have been suspicious. Other than that, the course was very well maintained. I can tell as the weather gets warmer, the fairways will grow in a little nicer. They were a little shaggy, but I attribute that to the recent rain. The layout of the course was very nice, not too long, and not very difficult. Unfortunately, the play was very slow. It took about 5 1/2 hours to complete the round, but that's what happens on Sunday afternoons.
Bring your short game
Early season, but the course was pretty dry and the greens were firm and fairly fast. The greatest challenge is offered by the greens, of which many are undulating and/or multi-tiered. This also means that you must calculate your yardages carefully so that you do not leave your approaches/pitches in unputtable spots.
The final three holes are very challenging, at least from the back tees: a 230 yd par 3, followed by par 4s of about 420 yd and 470 yd. Don't count on any late birdies -- +1 on this stretch is a good score for anybody.
NB: This course is hosting the Maryland Amateur Public Links in 2013.
Excellent value, Excellent Course
Clustered was in absolutely great shape. Greens we rolling extremely fast for mid March, fairways and tee boxes were also in good shape. Course was backed up due to frost delay but that's to be expected on the first 60 degree day of the year. Staff here is always friendly, grass range plus separate chipping and putting areas.
Nice course
The course was quite wet from heavy rain the day before; however, it played well anyway. The course has a really nice layout with a variety of degrees of challenge, from fairly easy to fairly tough. It's a course worth playing.
Course is in good shape for mid-Winter
Our foursome played Sunday mid-day in 41/2 hours. No real backups despite being somewhat crowded. Greens and fairways were free of any debris and in good shape. There were several sandtraps not in use (under repair). The green (Senior) tees were generally not available so course length for me was a bit too far...plays to about 6500 yards from the whites. It was my first time there and I will cxertainly return.
Fun course with some easy and some tough holes.
A few slow groups ahead made the round slower than usual.
Always worth the drive!
Not the easiest course to get to. Yet, that alll depends on where you're coming from. Still my favorite course in the area as far as bang for the buck!
Slow Pace
The course is very playable for the average golfer. Low handicap players would probably find it too easy.
The pace of play was unbelievably slow. They have signs that state that the pace of play is 4 hours and 10 minutes per 9 holes. We started at 12:32 pm and should have finished before the sun set at 5. We could not play the last 3 holes because the sun had set. There were no rangers/monitors to have players keep up the pace.
Enjoyable Public Course
Clustered is my 'home' course and very enjoyable to play. It offers enough challenge to golfers of all levels without being over taxing or frustrating.
Course is a good value
The course was a good value especially using the GolfNow website. The course is in great condition. Greens are smooth and are 9-11 for speed. Tee boxes and length of holes are good for all levels of golfer. Course does beat you up and most of the holes are friendly. Course is good for both high and lower
handicap players if played from the proper tee box. Course was in great shape and was fun to play.
GOOD VALUE
GOOD VALUE FOR THE DOLLAR AND THE STAFF WAS FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL AS ALWAYS
Very nice public facility.
The course had bonced back from the conditions I played on Labor Day. The greens were much, much better as were all other areas of the course. It is a very enjoyable layout with very challeging approaches to well guarded greens.
