Black Rock Golf Course
About
Black Rock Golf Course may be one of western Maryland's newest courses but it's located near some of the country's most historic sites. Antietam Battlefield and Harper's Ferry are just a few minutes away from this scenic course. The opening holes of the layout are tucked into the Shenandoah Valley while the back nine climbs uphill, offering views that stretch across the Appalachian Mountains. The golf course has plenty of holes that will please long hitters, but mature trees and thick rough frame most of the holes, demanding accuracy. Traps protect the front of most of the greens and you'll come across dramatic undulations on some. The par-4 13th is arguably Black Rock's toughest hole. This sharp dogleg right has a massive tree to the right as well as a pond right in front of the green.

Good course
Course is playing great. Challenging layout and fun to plsy
Great way to start the New Year!
Overall, I couldn't ask for a better day in January. I have no complaints other than the Geese that were around the 18th hole.
Great Hole Layouts
I think Blackrock is a great value. Course conditions are always excellent.
Great municipal
Definatly one of the best public (municipal) courses in Maryland.
Great Muni Course
The management and staff of Black Rock truly want an excellent experience for their golfers. Frost caused a one hour delay and the management was very friendly while we waited. The course was in great shape for his late in the year. I will play the course again when I am in the area.
Worth the ride.
The course was in very good condition for the middle of November. Cart paths have been resurfaced and the course is working on improvements. When the tee is moved up on number 3, its hard to hit your tee shot without hitting that big tree. Black Rock is always in good shape and worth the drive.
Great county course always in good shape!
This is my home course-always a value. Signed up as a single on Golfnow and was paired with another single and double for a foursome. County crew was seeding next to the cart paths. Once we got past therm, everything was fine. Course was crowded and round took 4 1/2 hrs to play. Fallen leaves caused problems with finding some balls. But, course was in great shape and is fun to play.
Except for pace of play, a great experience.
Some easy holes, some very difficult ones. Great condition, with manicured fairways and greens and penal rough. I salute anyone who can get aboard the part 4 13th green in two. My only gripe is it was a full 5-hour round starting at 11:18 on a Tuesday morning! We waited for every shot. No marshals in evidence to help move things along. Much too slow for that course.
Fall golf
The white tee blocks had been aerated and were out of play. White markers weren't placed on most tee blocks. So we alternated between blue and gold to try and get a distance close to white. Greens were phenomenal. Smooth and fast.
Interesting layout, good conditions
My first time at this municipal course in beautiful Western MD. Course layout is interesting; they really take advantage of the terrain, which means you start out with an unusual part 5, par 3, par 5. The course was in good shape, except for tee boxes and a few bunkers. I definitely will play it again
nice mix
course was in great shape .. interesting mix of holes giving club selection options .. but pace of play was very slow with occasional two group backups
Black Rock
Nice course from what we saw, but was not warned by GolfNow that the greens were being aerated and that there was work being done on the back nine. Therefore we had to play the front nine twice to get in the eighteen holes we paid for online. I don't want to penalize the course, just a warning that GolfNow apparently did not heed the information sent by the course and offered it online without providing the information that this was not representative of the normal course conditions.
Enjoyed the Course
Played Hooky from work and picked up a nice rate on Golfnow. First time playing the course, enjoyed the track and will be looking to play there again.
Worth it.
Have played here before and feel it is deserving of a review. The course is always in good shape, tee boxes are flat, fairways are always in great shape right up to the green. Greens are in good shape and play fast. The rough is very thick and difficult to play but this makes it challenging. There are very few blind shots and very few carryovers. There are a lot of different looks on this course that may club selection very important this is a very playable course.
Great course, Pleasure to play
I think the course was great, I think your service charge is too high ,close to $9.00 for the service charge??????
Sunday suprise
Got on Golfnow Saturday evening and found this deal for $29 for Sunday morning. Jumped on it with my son and we had a great time. Beautiful course for that rate on a Sunday. Pace was a little slow but under 5 hours. Rough was high without a first cut so if not in fairway you were searching for you ball even if you were ten feet away. Need to cut it down an inch or so you can see the top of the ball. Probably what caused to be a little longer round.
Black rock
Everything was great. The only problem was they were repaving the golf paths.
Black Rock Golf Course
I have played this course over the years. this is one of my favorite courses in the area. For $20 you can't beat the price from the hot deal on golf now. We played a Friday morning and teed off before our time. The course was in great shape as usual.
great value
good layout, friendly staff, good prices. what else would you want in a golf course?for the time of year I played the course was in excellent condition.I like to play 27 holes the replay was only $10, that's a very nice benefit.
Great First day out!
Great day only odd thing was, staff member on duty stated we should consider ourselves lucky that the rates went up over the weekend but Golf Now didn't adjust. He went on to say they never do and he didn't even know why they were affiliated with Golf now because they don't get a dime... It was a little weird as he seems to be venting to us an issue out of our control . He seemed very frustrated that we used this service. Kinda started our day / round off on an uncomfortable note, until we hit the first tee. Oh well
