Black Rock Golf Course

Very well maintained course. Greens can be a bit tricky, they don't break like you think they will. Golfed here several times and will be back again.

Black Rock is a fairly difficult course set in a very picturesque setting. It is in Hagerstown valley with views of the mountain ranges to the East and West. The course follows the natural lay of the land using the contours to add to the beauty and protection of the holes.

The course is usually in good shape. Staff is friendly.
Convenient to interstate and far enough from Washington Area to be reasonably priced.

Great lay out and in very good shape this time of year.
I would play this track again.

i enjoyed my sunday at black rock, even though most of the rocks there are grey. a bit of a bad start, but ended up being a good time. first they wont let u take the carts into the parking lot for some reason, so i had to lug my bag to the "driving range " which the normal maybe 5 person tee spaces were closed, so we had to hit from a rough non mowed area in front, which was very slanted. there was no marshal or starter, so it took a while to find the driving range, or the 1st tee. but after we got going, it was smooth sailing. greens were good, many blind tee shots, but i feel good that if i go back i can play well.

I have played this course 4 or 5 times this year and the course is always in excellent condition. The course has a nice variety of holes and some interesting elevation changes. Beware of number 13, it is a difficult par 5 dogleg right with a lot tree trouble, water, and a green that slopes severely.

This course is always fun to play and usually moves pretty well, although I don't know about weekends in the summer.

Gentleman at the pro shop with very little personality voiced his opinion about Golfnow and how they did not make any money when Golfnow customers used the course, saying that we were getting free golf! The young lady at the snack bar with no personality who worked Wednesdays only and drove the refreshment cart on weekends had no idea what customer service is. My group got the impression she really didn't want to be behind the counter. We ordered hamburgers and she just was not able to find the hamburg. "C'mon Man"

Course was in excellent shape, made you think on most of the holes. Greens had good pace and rolled true, rough was moderate. Was a little slow but that was the first time as I have played numerous rounds here. Very nice facility, friendly staff.

I played this course on a Friday afternoon after an outing. .It was an enjoyable afternoon after being paired up with two other singles.

As for the course, it is a contrast between easy holes and difficult holes. The first 3 holes include 2 short par 5's and a short par 3. They provide an excellent opportunity to get off to good start.

The best hole on course is #14. It is medium length par 4 with approach over water to a severerly sloping green. Par is a good score on this hole.

The conditions on the entire course from tee to green were excellent. Would definitely return in the future.

Always enjoyable to play.There are several landscape improvements which are nice.

This course rocks harder than I-Robot at the Marple AMC 10. Hole three has tighter fairways than my ol main squeeze Cipriano! If you don't pipe an iron down the middle you have no shot at birdie.

Excellent.condition from fairway to green. Around some of the greens was thin with poor lies. Like all public courses, the greens were ball marked. But overall in better than average shape and very playable.

This course was in excellent with fairways, fringes, roughs all neatly cut. There are some short par 4 holes but those are either guarded very well with bunkers or are designed with sharp dogleg layouts. Overall the course was a joy to play.

One of the best in MD.Good fairways and clean golf carts, if you are alone they pair you up with other players.

Tees, fairways and rough were in excellent condition. Greens had been recently aerated and were still a little bumpy. Bunkers were hard packed, wet and in generally poor condition due to recent rains. Otherwise a very nice moderately challenging course. We got a great deal through Golf Now so hard to complain.

The only, and I mean only ding would the the condition of the bunkers -unfortunately unplayable. But the rest of the course, to include the recently aerated greens, superb. In short, go play it!!!

The course was in great shape. My friend and I where teamed up with another pair. It was a great time on the course dispate the poor weather. The course was very soggy. It was the poor weather that caused our group some confusion. In the Pro Shop we were informed paths only. Understandable actually, however, when we reached the starter we were informed after 9AM, 90 degrees. On hole 9 we crossed the fairway for the first time, soon after the pro came running out of shop telling us to stay on path. When we tried to explain what we were told by his starter, he simply dismissed it. We passed two marshalls on the course, they did not tell us any differently. The pro made us feel pretty guilty. Course was great, staff very poor customer service.

Foursome finished in four hours on a Saturday morning. Greens had been aerated two weeks before and were still a bit uneven. There were a few brown spots on the course, but it was otherwise in excellent condition.

Played here for the first time. Great price using a "Hot Deal". Course was in good shape fairly short with a lot of dog legs and blind shots. Greens were recently aerated so they were tough to put. All in all very nice course I will play it again once the greens recover.
