"Approach" shot on 13 from middle of "fairway". You have to hit through or around the power poles from 250 out Photo submitted by DrOldSchool on 11/21/2012
Needs improvement
I hear new management is making upgrades, and some things clearly have. But not the things that matter. The tee boxes are in awful shape. All of them. Fairways are full of weeds and bare spots. I hope this course keeps improving because it has potential.
Hidden little jem in Frederick County
Great little course in the mountains that Bill Clinton used to play. Need to say more.
Much Better than in Years Past
This was my first time playing here in 4 years or so. Since then a new Owner has taken over and the changes are very noticeable. The layout is obviously still the same, but all grass from the tee boxes to the greens are in way better shape. The pro shop is much nicer plus they have a window at the bar so you don't have to go inside plus an outdoor seating area. The course was pretty wet when I played but with all the rain we have had lately, that's to be expected almost anywhere. Overall that was a much improved over my past experiences here and I look forward to returning again soon.
Great deal
This course was in great shape. I don't think you can find a better deal for your money.
Great except for the mosquitos
Enjoyed the course. Didn’t enjoy the mosquitos. They really need to install some fountains in the lakes to keep the water moving.
Much IMPROVED
The golf course is much improved than last year. Everything is in place. Definitely will come back again
Good recovery from flooding
I am amazed I was even there to play, given almost 14” of rain that week and the back 9 underwater not a day or so prior. They were quick to have the paths repaired and grass mowed as quickly as possible. As mushy as it was, I managed 7 over par. The new owners sure are doing their best to make this a real asset to golfers. Well done.
Enjoyed our Time
It was a good day out there. Course isn’t in the best shape but when you hit out of the rough most of the time who cares. Greens were solid - greenskeeper might have been in a bad mood based on the pin locations. We got a pretty good deal, not sure I would want to pay full price for the condition but it’s still reasonably priced. Only complaint was the pace of play but I don’t think that’s anyone’s fault. Would try if you’re in the area
Worth a hot deal price only
Last played in 2023 when they were making a lot of changes. The course has improved some since then. Unfortunately there are still a lot of bare spots on tee boxes, fairways, and fringes. Some tee boxes even had grass as high as the tees. Greens were recently punched and top dressed and were in okay condition. The carts had a delay once you hit the gas and then jerked so bad that the front wheels would come off the ground. Wouldn’t pay more than $25 to play again unless it’s a hot deal with $10 off. I’ll maybe give it another shot down the road a bit.
Good Condition
Course was in good condition. Greens have the small holes from being aerated, and it’s been too cool for them to fill in. But for mid April, the course played well.
A great golf course with friendly staff
It's a great course overall, and they started cleaning it up a bunch, and they have new Golf carts with g. P s on them so I would definitely recommend trying it at least one time
For the price, no call
I will let someone play it for themselves. And see what they think. To me for the price that they charge, it's overpriced now. From the carts to the greens overpriced,
Better every time I'm out lately
Perfect weather and the course is getting better every time I go out. You can see the work being put into this place and it is not going unnoticed by those of us who've been coming here a long time. The "cart path only" rule seems to be over-used, especially when it blocks off the areas far off the fairway that you may need to just get out and walk that before never were needed to be blocked. Some leeway on this should be changed as to what is off limits. Coming off an aeration, greens were still playable and didn't have much variance due to the sand and holes from normal. Made some very long puts even with all the sand. Best round ever this time out at 2 over par...way better than usual.
