"Approach" shot on 13 from middle of "fairway". You have to hit through or around the power poles from 250 out Photo submitted by DrOldSchool on 11/21/2012
This course is great for beginners such as myself.
Course has challenging holes, but good for a beginning golfer.
Course needs some work
The course needs some work. One of the tees actually had a mat laid down to hit from as the grass was not maintained. When we arrived for our 11 o'clock tee time, there were no working carts. So, we had to wait about 15 minutes for a working cart. We practiced on the putting green while we waited because there is no driving range. The course needs a few more signs to let Patrons know whether to turn left or right when driving their carts. When we stopped by the kitchen to grab a bite to eat after the ninth hole, it was hard not to notice that the floor in the kitchen was crumbling and tilted horribly to one side. It made us wonder about the quality and cleanliness of our food. On the good side, the man behind the counter was very friendly. The fairways were cut well.
Mountain View
Maple run is a good course to play. The mountain view was very nice. The course gave you a good challenge for all level of golfers. I liked the course and will play it again.
great as always
a must play wow ,what a fun course at least on a weekday
Going Downhill
Started on number 11 behind an outing. Was told Golfnow wasn't supposed to sell my tee time upon arrival but they would squeeze me in. Back side was soggy and greens were very slow. Front was dried out and greens were hard but putted better. No sand in the bunkers. Conditions were better a few years back, seems to be going downhill. Still have what appear to be original carts which have you hoping you make it around. No signage for forced carries or doglegs to help you off the tee.
great for the money
The greens were great. T box average. Great course to use all your clubs. Will use it againl.
Bare bones, decent course
Greens and fairways on the course were pretty good. Tee boxes could use some work. On one hole, there was no grass on the tee box, it was in an unusual location and there was even a range mat at the front of the tee box. The pro shop is very old and there was no one at the snack bar. The bathroom was extremely dirty and small. The course was very busy and no one was controlling the spacing of groups or the pace of play. But, the course is interesting and fun and the greens are very challenging.
Great course for the money
Played 27 holes in 6 hours. Greens are very challenging and course is in great shape.
Play the front nine
The front nine was nice. After 10, there appears to be little to no maintenance done until the last couple if holes. Lots of bugs, standing water and over growth. Fix that and it would be a nice course.
Solid open course
I've played Maple Run quite a few times in the past. It's a solid course with good length. It's fairways are wide and not a lot of trouble spots. Very little sand, but a fair amount if water hazards. Tee boxes could use some improvement. Overall a nice pleasurable course for the money. If they added some clubhouse amenities (food) it would help at the turn. I will be back.
Hard! But fun.
I had not been to maple run in over ten years. I wanted to revisit it this week. It is an overall great public course, but the greens are haaaaaard! Very small and too many mounds. Your short game needs to be amazing to score here. It is a fun course tho if you are looking for a cheap challenging round of golf.
Unnecessary difficulties
This is an old country course that has not refurbished its facilities. The seats of some of the carts are broken and are not clean. The greens on the first nine holes are too hilly and the holes were placed on top of the hier position, more difficult that what it should be. The traps needed sand or more loose dirt.
Cow pasture
I only paid $11.00 to play here and still feel I need to say a couple things. I would not pay more than that...ever...to play here. Poorly maintained fairways. The greens were inconsistent. The cart I had was in need of service. There's a golf cart grave yard visible as you drive in. It's just painfully obvious no effort or money is being put into this course. The staff was friendly! That's about all the positive I can muster. I would play here again though...for $11.00 or less. Oh, and the driving range is not open.
Bunkers!!
I've played this course 3 other times and the biggest complaint is the dreadful shape of the bunkers. They're not bunkers but clay pots!! It's impossible to slash out of these and on to the green. The ball just goes over the green, 50 yards away. I asked the guys at the club house and they made it sound like this isn't going to change anytime soon. That's a shame because this is a good course and I would play it more often. We a player is trying to shoot in the 80's for the first time and he gives up 4 strokes because of the shape of the bunkers, its time to bag the course.
Great budget course
Nothing fancy here, but still a decent course and great value. Course is WIDE OPEN. Only lost 1 ball and that was because it became buried in the ground due to wet conditions. Greens are challenging.
Value Course
Great twilight deal of 25$ on weekend for 18. Course was in good shape, a couple short par 4s which are always nice because the greens here are very hilly and difficult.
Nothing special
Played on April 19th and parts of the course were all burnt up already. Not a very challenging course easy for golfers just starting out.
Well laid out course
Course is a good test. Staff very friendly. Good value.
Affordable golf for
The course conditions were slightly muddy which was to be expected because of recent rains. The staff is great and the design is fun for all golfers. I will golf there many times in the future. Great overall place considering its affordable rates.
