Great Course
I played the back 9 yesterday 4-13-21 in the late afternoon. It was great, sun shinning , a bit windy, the course is in great shape and had the place to myself..
I play here once a week and it is challenging enough for the average golfer (me) and better players.
Best deal around, give it a try, you'll like it.
Great Golf Course
We played Acushnet River Valley Country Club the first weekend of April. The overall course was in really nice shape for early season golf.
The layout is really nice, tree lined holes with rolling fairways. Green are nice sized with tricky breaks. The back nine is more of a links style layout, where the wind played tough on a sunny day. With cart cost was $65.00 and that’s a bargain. Club house and snack bar were closed due to the Covid restriction,
Definitely will be back at this course this season.
Great course with challenging layout
Course is in great condition. Challenging layout makes you reconsider shooting straight for the pin every time. Pace was a bit slow, but would be fixed if they had an actual starter and didn't just let people play back to back all along the course. Great value!
Clean, quality course that's in a great spot. Lends itself to a quiet and relaxed round.
2 courses in 1
This is a great track. Pace of play was a little slow, but it was due to a 1 hour frost delay. I named my review as “2 courses in 1” as once you get past the par three 12th, the course changes its layout to an open almost links style course from 13-17. It becomes a power hungry wide open, tee it high and let it fly course. Whereas the first 12 holes are “pick your shot,” these holes benefit long hitters as a way to close the gap between your playing partners if you’ve been struggling. The sand is sand, which is a rarity on the south shore. Normally bunkers are hard packed, where Acushnet is like hitting bunker shots off the beach. A nice change of pace. The off course amenities are nice. Good prices, and the hotdogs at the turn are MASSIVE. Would definitely play here again, worth the 50 minute drive
Beautiful course, TERRIBLE Pace of Play
This course itself is magnificent. Great layout, fun to play, challenging. However this course repeatedly has the WORST pace of play you will ever see. I’ve been here 7 times over the past few years and I’ve waited in excess all 7 times. You will start hole one with at least one maybe even 3 groups waiting to tee off. Then you’ll have to wait about 5-15 minutes EACH time you get to that new tee box. It often gets better on the back 9 as groups often call it quits early due to frustration and how long it’s taken them to get there. I wish this wasn’t the case as the course itself is beautiful. However it’s clear management values money and cramming as many golfers as possible into the day. Opposed to creating a great golf experience. Sad.
Good Value
Course in good shape early in season.Wind made it very challenging. Pro shop closed due to covert,
Great course terrible pace of play
Played on Saturday and it took me and my three buddy's 5 hours to play 13 holes,we waited at least 20-30 minutes a hole. There was no ranger and the had booked people every 9 minutes. This was the second time this happened out of the three times iv been there.wont be back for quite some time and it's a shame course is great to play when booked correctly
Thank you for reviewing the course. We apologize for the delay of play during your round. This is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. With an uncharacteristically full day, we work hard to accommodate everyone who visits our course and allow our guest the chance to complete their rounds. With that in mind, we are working to best control pace and allow everyone to finish in a reasonable amount of time. We will continue to look for ways to improve. We are glad to see you rated the course conditions and layout to be great during your game. Thank you for playing Acushnet River Valley Golf Course. We hope to see you again soon.
Pine hills course
Best course layout ive seen in New Englsnd. Up in the pinehills. Tee to green was Fabulous. Cant wait to play there again.
Great course. Always in great shape.
Excellent course. Great variety of holes Front and Back.
Course is always in great shape.
Awesome golf course
The course was in great shape. The greens were in great shape. It’s an awesome place to go and play with your friends on the weekends.
Good condition for time of year
Tees and fairways were in good condition. Greens were not smooth or consistent in speed but it should get better with more conditioning. Glad to see all greens now open with elimination of temporary green. Will gladly play again.
Couldn’t even play
We arrived for our 3:45 tee time, after driving almost an hour to get there, only to find out that we’d have to wait 40min. They said “well you think that’s bad, it was over an hour and a half this morning”... First off, we wouldn’t even have been able to play 9 holes by the time we got out there and secondly, if they knew that since the morning, why wouldn’t they have notified us?! They had all of our information.
Won’t even attempt to golf here again.
In defense of the golf course, how does someone book a tee time at 3:45pm and expect to play 18 holes?? Daylight in March ends at 7pm and that's with the sun shinning all day. You must be new to the game and not understand how a frost delay affects the tee sheet. Frost delays are common in New Engalnd in March. I played that morning and my tee time was dealyed an hour due to frost. So that means that the tee times are delayed an hour for the entire day due to morning frost. Its not the course's fault, blame morher nature. Its also not the course's responsibility to contact all 250 people on the tee sheet to inform them of a frost delay. Any golfer knows that it's their responsibility to contact the course to find out about delays when temperatures are freezing overnight.
Great Course for all levels of Golf
Great course. Acushnet is a course in great shape all the time; Spring, Summer and Fall. It is challenging but fair for high handicaps and low handicaps. It has beautiful tree lined fairways somewhat tight on front nine and a nice links golf style back nine. Greens are always in great shape and so are the fairways. Most of the greens are elevated which adds (in my mind) to the challenge. The people who work at Acushnet are very nice, courteous and respectful. They have Pro Golf who is excellent.
Front & Back Very Different
ARV is a great course to play! The front nine is much different than the back; but both have their challenges. It was in great shape despite a very dry spring and summer. Fairway traps very unforgiving so keep the ball in the fairway (unlike me). But not too many places where you can't find your ball (or someone else's). Not the closest course if you live north of southern MA or in RI; but well worth the ride. You won't be disappointed. Can't wait to go back!
