Play here the most
I've been playing Acushnet River Valley almost regularly two times a week this year. It's in great shape. Actually the best I've seen it in years and it's a great value for the money. A lot of courses charge you more and the condition of the course isn't as well kept up. I plan on playing lots more next season, since this season will be coming to an end soon. (at least for me) I don't play in the cold.
Riding double?
I love the course and hoped to play it one last time before heading south. However, the course policy changed from earlier in the summer. Now I would have to ride in a cart with a complete stranger -- no single rider carts allowed. With my aging body, riding is necessary, and being in the high-risk age group for Covid concerns, riding in those close quarters with a someone not living in my residence would not be smart. I didn't play and, sadly, won't play again under these circumstances.
Great course
I've been playing Acushnet River Valley every week this year due to it it's condition and value. The pace is slow on weekends, but during the week is really good.
BAD RANGER
Started at 7:00am, walking off #7 at 7:30 and the ranger approached us to say groups behind us were complaining about slow play. Next three groups behind us were all threesomes and a twosomes, I said we were eight minutes ahead of pace on scorecard and we were the only foursome including the groups in front of us. He told me he didn't care and to play faster, we finished in under four hours. Learn what your job entails for the situation and customer service.
Recommended
Fairways, greens, bunkers and tee boxes were in great shape. Play was extremely slow ... over 3hrs on the front and just over 2.5 hrs on the back - unacceptable. our golf cart had issues as well. The course layout was nice as it mixed a traditional track with a links on most of the back 9. Some of the holes were a little short playing from the whites. All in all it's a great value and would recommend this course to others and will definitely play it again.
No longer a hidden gem, just a phenomenal gem
You can not find a better course for the money. The way golf is supposed to be. Stop looking and go to ARV.
