Hickory Ridge Golf Course in Amherst is one of western Massachusetts' premier courses. It plays across a gently rolling landscape accented with mature tree that offers an especially scenic round in the fall thanks to the changing colors of the foliage. The course has some subtle contours but it is still pleasantly walkable and offers just enough of a challenge to appeal to low and high handicappers alike. The layout consists of an interesting variety of holes including some that are long, a few doglegs, and also some birdie opportunities. The golf course finishes with one of the area's most memorable holes. This long par 4 calls for an accurate tee shot in order to avoid the river on the left and the rough on the right. The challenges don't end there either with a second shot to a wide, elevated green protected by large, deep bunkers.

Fun to Play at Bargain Price
This Donald Ross design is still in good shape and a challenge for the average golfer.
Nice course for the money
Fun course layout, fairways are a bit poor quality, but the greens were wonderful. Being my first time playing there, I learned some tips on which side of the fairway to hit my tee shots next time.
Need to catch up on mowing after lots of rain. Ruff is like playing in cow pasture! Greens decent. Sand traps untouched.
Course needs lots of attention
Sad. Was such a nice course.
It seems that this course is no longer being maintained. The fairway and tee boxes are covered with grass clippings (clumps) and the mowing is not even- think 12” high strips of grass in the fairway. 60% of the course fairways are now muddy swamps. Again, this use to be a great course. The restaurant is also closed.

The record amount of rain this spring has made that a difficult task, with extremely soft turf, mowing routines and schedules were severely altered. Mud pit!
I don’t know...I know we’ve had some rain but I have never in my life played in more mud and standing water. It was the wettest course I have ever seen. Miserable. Ponds in the fairways, traps and cart paths...mud most every where else. I have played here before and never noticed but I will never play there again unless it hasn’t rained in at least a week.
False Impression
So this course plays wet. Hard to know the course layout as t-box signs are like non- existant. No cart paths along most holes. Guessing where to go. But...they layout could be great as the staff and pro shop is great. If like to play when dryer conditions are here. With the right course direction this would be a popular course.. On site bar and kitchen serves up cold beer and tasty food. Say hi to Christine and Erin. The Veranda could be a perfect spot to hang and watch incoming play. I'd play it again. But some areas need attention.
Too bad it was such a swamp
We were looking forward to playing that course with it’s nice layout but were not expecting a round of Aqua-golf. I really hope we played this course on a bad day and it normally plays in normal dry conditions as all the fairways were nothing but mud and swamp with full areas with standing waters. Too bad as the staff and members were all super friendly. Sad as. the course has a nice layout.
The course was in great shape. The greens had just been aerated and were not that great but over all the course was fun. great layout easy to follow without purchasing the course layout book.
Great value.
Very good setup and a good challenge. Staff is always extremely friendly and helpful. A great experience all the way around.
Great Day of golf
Hickory has been a wonderful course for a long time. It's long and challenging, but you can still have a lot of fun playing. Greens are fast and true. fairways are like carpets. Even the rough is reasonable to hit out of.
This is one of my go to courses. give it a try, you'll love it.

Our Tuesday group from Worcester lways goes to Hickory Ridge at least once a year. This is a great layout and some great challenging holes the greens are always great in the tees are always an excellent condition. I would recommend this course to all skill levels.
If it rain a lot don’t play the course it does not drain we’ll.
