Maplegate Country Club

About
Maplegate Country Club sprawls across 150 acres of gently rolling hills that are blanketed with forests of stately maple, oak, beech, and white pine trees. The golf course is situated just off of I-495 along the border between Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Although the location is seemingly isolated, it’s conveniently only 45 minutes from Boston. The course plays harder than it looks with a diverse layout that will test you with a variety of different shots. Maplegate Country Club's front nine features more target-style golf but you'll get to pull out your driver on the back nine. There are some tough holes, but it's not overly punishing for the high handicapper. The variety that the golf course offers made it the natural choice to host U.S. Open Qualifiers in both in 1998 and 2001.

General upkeep is not being done
I have played here many times but never encountered the number of tee boxes and sand traps in such rough shape…disappointing
Great course
Great experience playing this course! All around very nice course in great shape. First time playing buy will def go back.
Not the best on this day
Pace of play way too slow because of the group two ahead of us ... and we were actually told once to pick up the pace. How when the group ahead of us is stalled because of the group ahead of them?
Tee boxes were a weathered ... lots of bare areas.
This place has seen better days.
Nice course great staff pace of play not great for a Saturday morning 914 tee time I’d expect that pace after noon time! Think it’d help spreading out the tee times more instead of 8 or 9 min increments
Course is in good condition for a course that is about to be closed any day now. Tee boxes could use some work but I understand only putting in the minimum to keep the course going.
We had a morning of cancellation due to an unforeseen cancellation for child care. The individual checking us in was very abrasive and rude and shared we would still need to pay full greensfees/charges because this was inside of 24-hours. The two others in our group showed up, and there were multiple tee times available. Tough customer experience at a course I have played many rounds at.
Sprinklers at work…
…as the lack of rain along with summer heat would lead one to expect the courses’ over play to be reflected in greens and fairways… greens in great shape as are fairways… yes, tee boxes are in usable condition but considering amount of play and we are in mid summer… the course has fast greens being rolled, fairways that are good … just go try the course
Not great
They pack the course so pace of play is incredibly slow. Greens were pretty good, fairways decent, rough and intermediate areas were quite bad.
An experience that will make you want to come back never
Booked for 2 but added an additional player by calling the club house. Guy said he’d ’move things around’ but when we showed up he let us know our time was moved to earlier, which meant we had to rush, plus his mistake led to not having a 4th, which he made us pay for! The guy was little d energy and talked over us the entire time, letting us know his boss would be made. Came across like the JV football player who was mad he wasn’t good enough for Varsity. Typical Bro which ruins the vibe and makes us never want to return - for $100 a round this is NOT it. Go somewhere else for a better, cheaper experience.
Mid season
I did the virtual check in but the kid behind the counter still wanted me to check in at the counter. He sent me off the back 9 not knowing there was a group already waiting there. The tee boxes are 75% sand off the white tees. It’s hard finding good feeting. The tee boxes also bow. So teeing off the right side the ball is below your feet. The layout is challenging and fun, for the most part the fairways are in good shape. The rough has a lot of dirt patches, roots rocks etc. the greens are pocked mark pretty well from half a season of use. All the greens roll different. Local knowledge helps when chipping and putting onto them.
Nice suprise
We played this course while visiting the area. After reading a few reviews I wasn’t sure how it was going to be. But the course was in great shape and fun to play. Course knowledge would make this course a scoreable course. On complaints are the cartpaths are rough, and a couple tee boxes we are little rough. But neither so bad that I’d call it not worth playing.
We really enjoyed this course and would definitely play it again.
Seen better and especially friendlier
The man behind the register was not receptive.
The price was premium.
Greens extremely slow, tee boxes chopped up cart paths horrible
Pace of play was great at 630 am
Layout is unique...brings me back
Decent course; staff not great
I had a tee time for 12:20 and when I arrived they told me that they had a kids tournament inserted in the middle of the day and that my tee time was bumped to 1pm. They didn’t really seem to care that I was on a tight schedule and that they had not communicated the change to me. If they had, I would have canceled knowing that I would then not have enough time to get 18 holes in.
