Maplegate Country Club

About
Maplegate Country Club sprawls across 150 acres of gently rolling hills that are blanketed with forests of stately maple, oak, beech, and white pine trees. The golf course is situated just off of I-495 along the border between Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Although the location is seemingly isolated, it’s conveniently only 45 minutes from Boston. The course plays harder than it looks with a diverse layout that will test you with a variety of different shots. Maplegate Country Club's front nine features more target-style golf but you'll get to pull out your driver on the back nine. There are some tough holes, but it's not overly punishing for the high handicapper. The variety that the golf course offers made it the natural choice to host U.S. Open Qualifiers in both in 1998 and 2001.

Fair shape
This is a challenging course and a good drive off the tee is critical. Plays long off the blue tees. Course conditions quite good except for the bunkers and cart paths. There is sand but all packed in. Hard to get the blade under the sand. Just need to rake and loosen up all that sand. Greens are in fairly good shape. Fair value for money.
Enjoy it
Course appears to be in should/shouldn’t mode in terms of putting funds into it as the potential sale fir a solar farm swirls around … IRRESPECTIVE of any/all rumors, just go play the course as it will test every club and that just getting to the greens and, once on the green take your time to get your reads as you will find a few to be more challenging than others
Play now and support the hope the course remains
Great day
Used golf now, had a great round, very happy with the value and the course
Fair.
It is what it is. Bird crap on the entire back nine. Not mowed in a couple days. Get what you pay for
Would be Great With Better Maintenance
I understand the current plan is to convert to a solar farm. They probably don't want to spend a lot on grooming. Greens were full of ball marks. Grass on tees, fairway was spotty in places. Traps were not good. That said, it's a real nice layout and was still enjoyable to play, especially at Hot Deal price. Too bad a buyer with enough $$$ and desire to run it as a golf course didn't come forward.
This course needs help
I feel bad writing a review with such a low rating, but it took five hours to play 18 holes. The tee boxes and greens are in tough shape.
