Maplegate Country Club
About
Maplegate Country Club sprawls across 150 acres of gently rolling hills that are blanketed with forests of stately maple, oak, beech, and white pine trees. The golf course is situated just off of I-495 along the border between Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Although the location is seemingly isolated, it’s conveniently only 45 minutes from Boston. The course plays harder than it looks with a diverse layout that will test you with a variety of different shots. Maplegate Country Club's front nine features more target-style golf but you'll get to pull out your driver on the back nine. There are some tough holes, but it's not overly punishing for the high handicapper. The variety that the golf course offers made it the natural choice to host U.S. Open Qualifiers in both in 1998 and 2001.

Golf in late December
Course was in good condition considering the weather. It;s been a wet year and the course was very wet. The greens were very good.
Fall Golf
The greens we all blown off of leaves and rolled nice. Given the rain we had the course held up good and the staff was friendly and courteous. The fairways were also clean and machines were removing leaves making it easy to find your ball.
Hi, James. We appreciate you leaving a review and rating us. We will inform the entire team, so they know their hard work is paying off. We look forward to having you back!
Fall Golf was excellent.
Greens were free of any debris and overall play was very good. Staff very friendly and courteous.

Very nice course and staff.
Outside of the falling leave hiding my ball we had a great time.

disappointed group
we booked 2 4somes back to back during the week. Now we know why the tee times were available. What used to be a very nice course has lost all of its luster. Tee boxes were a mess, fairways had many many bald spots and greens were dog slow. It's too bad because the actual course lay-out is plenty challenging for the avg to plus golfers but you wont be stealing my money again anytime soon.
Dont believe the folks at the DRIVING RANGE
The course benefitted due to another course closing; and Maplegate employed the closed greenskeeper. One of our foursome, chatted up another golfer who stated the course was in great condition. Clearly, after playing today, dont trust what you hear. The tee boxes were a mess, the fairways patchy/burned out, staff all over cutting grass(where they found any would be the question), Our foursome has played this course over the years and found it to be a value when discounted rates via GOLFNOW were available. This year, the rate to play was noticeably higher(again to take advantage of golfers moving from closed course), and we were optimistic the new greenskeeper would have a positive impact. We will need to let the course owners put a lot more monies into it...for now, the extra cash flow is not showing up...and for the price we paid, it is, currently OVER PRICED...may try it again in a year or two...such potential...lots of make up to do to get it to where the pricing is at least reasonable...we play public courses and know what a good course looks like and pricing is also a value proposition...be patient with them for another 1-2 years...there is still a ton of work to be done, i.e., aerating the fairways...and tee boxes, but no fill...lots of pure dirt spots on virtually every fairway...patience is urged, but, do adjust expectations for this course...vs what you pay for it
Getting better
The course was in total disrepair the last few years. The new superintendent is improving it. Greens were much nicer
Getting Closer To Five Stars
First time playing the course this season. Was not surprised to see the progress made to restoring this gem. There is no need to worry here except that at some point it will be difficult to find a quiet day to play here in the future. The layout has always been top notch and they are doing everything to bring back the beast that this track can become. My playing partner who is relatively new to New England was impressed and said that he would be back again...he relocated from the Mid West where the courses are prime and a plenty. You could not ask for better people who welcome you and try to make your experience perfect. Once nature allows for decent turf conditions...I'll be raving five stars. Thank you Maplegate Staff and Management. Can't wait too return to see more progress :)
Forgot to add that I am a GolfNow player and that we were treated as if we members of the club...that's how I felt personally...Thanks again!
Slowest round of golf ever played
Backed up from the first tee and got worse and worse. Took over an hour to play 3.5 holes. No rangers to be found. I got fed up and drove off the course to find the ranger BSing by the trailer
Nice location
Course greens were recently plugged but should come back in great shape. Fairways are also hard to hit off of due to bare spots.
not good
They treat golfnow people like second rate humans
never play this course. they will are terrible people
Nice Course
Overall course continues to improve which is a direct result of the new Superintendent and will only get better.
Maplegate
Great layout......good test for all levels of player.
In the words of Charles Barkley “Turrible just turrible”
What a shame that this course is what it is now. The fairways were completely gone and the tee boxes were pretty bad as well. At least the greens were in pretty good shape. It was also a 5 1/2 round which is just unacceptable. I will say that the cart girl was great, she got to us about 6 times which was nice on a warm day. I hope they can get Maplegate back in shape but for now I wouldn’t play it again.
Great greens.
Been playing here about 3 seasons now and it’s getting better and better. Greens are AWESOME right now. Fairways weren’t great but most courses had some trouble with the heat so understandable. Played at 5:47 am in 3 hours. Worth playing just for the greens.
This is one to skip!
I’d like to start by saying the staff was incredible from the moment we arrived, they were friendly and extremely accommodating. The course itself was a mess! Fairways had hardly any grass on them and the majority of the greens had seen better days. If you’re a long hitter (man or woman) leave the driver at home. Overall this course was a mess; it may have a chance with some updating but it’s is serious need of an overhaul. On the plus side they have new electric carts...which are great! Management should have invested the cart money into the course. Skip this one no matter what the rate is!!!
Great day
Absolutely one of the best courses around. The staff are amazing the course is coming along very well and I absolutely love it. Thanks for a wonderful day.
The greens were in excellent shape and the tee boxes were fine too the problem was the fairways... there's not a lot of green grass to play off of. The grass is either burnt or there's no grass at all. The cart paths are the worst I've ever been on. There are lots of hidden waste areas also. Pay close attention to the pictures on the score card. I played well but I would not play it again
