About
Maplegate Country Club sprawls across 150 acres of gently rolling hills that are blanketed with forests of stately maple, oak, beech, and white pine trees. The golf course is situated just off of I-495 along the border between Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Although the location is seemingly isolated, it’s conveniently only 45 minutes from Boston. The course plays harder than it looks with a diverse layout that will test you with a variety of different shots. Maplegate Country Club's front nine features more target-style golf but you'll get to pull out your driver on the back nine. There are some tough holes, but it's not overly punishing for the high handicapper. The variety that the golf course offers made it the natural choice to host U.S. Open Qualifiers in both in 1998 and 2001.

Course needs some TLC
Disappointing the course has slipped from what it was in the past. The greens were slow and the fairways spotty
Pleasant day on the course
Once we got over the disappointment that nine holes were out of play due to aerating fairways and tee boxes, we had a pleasant day on the course. We ended up playing the back nine twice. The course was is pretty good shape, although there were some bare spots to avoid. The greens rolled well, although on the slow side.

Took advantage of Hot Deal
Had an open day and scooped a hot deal. Had a fantastic day on the track. Staff was very friendly when I showed up and pace of play was sweet. Really appreciate the opportunity to get out and play a extra round on a day that I was not planning to play. Really enjoyed playing

OK with Discounted Price
Compared to other courses this spring Maplegate conditions were poor. Little grass on tees and fairways. Greens long, slow and uneven. At the Golf-Now rate the value was OK. I would never pay the full weekend rate for this track.

Glad gave course another try
Played early AM tee time. I had played here many times 5 years ago. Stopped playing because the course was in disrepair and staff was less than friendly. I took advantage of a great deal thru GolfNow and glad I did. The course has made a 180 degree turn around. The fairways were in great condition and most surprising the greens were better than average. The layout is challenging for a mid handicapper. Three sets of tees perfect for all ability levels
I will be recommending this to my friends and will be putting it back into my local course rotation and look forward to playing it when the weather is a lot warmer.

Need more improvement
Good shape course.
But need lot of improvement. Green is slow, fairway is not a good condition.

Didn't even play 6 holes
We were a few minutes late on our tee time which is our fault. However we are talking 2min late. Either way To make up for this we skipped the first hole as to not hold up anyone. Even though we did this the staff still continued to say "you guys are late you know we could penalize you blah blah". Multiple members did this. Next we are waiting for the group in front of us to get off the fairway and the group behind us on the previous hole yelled at us to "not wait and just go" and harassed us. Mind you again there was still a group on the fairway. So we decided to go somewhere else after 6 holes. We asked for our money back after describing our experience. Policy was apparently "no money back" and they gave us vouchers to come back and play 18 another time. Honestly not sure I even want to play there again.
Much Better than I have heard
Locals say this course is tough and they usually don't say great things. As a seasoned golfer let me say that this is a very good course. There is one hole that ruins the overall rating and that is a PAR5 4th? I think. Its a long hole but you can't hit driver due to a marsh out at 250 yards. Yes, Dumb. You have to hit a blind shot over the marsh after hitting a 5 iron off the tee. Not ideal. Anyway, the course is great on 17 other holes and I would play here everyday and be happy so give it a try!

Play Maplegate
72 miles door to door from Derry, NH. 144 miles round trip, worth every bit of tread wear. You need to play this golf course.I hadn't played in a very long time and never this late in the calendar year. Maplegate was on my To Play list when I played regularly, saw a Hot Deal from Golf Now and away I went . Cloudy, a little drizzle every once in awhile but great for three days BEFORE Christmas to be playing golf !!!! Old buck at 62 hit the first one at 8:30 AM and was in the truck by 11:30. Still can get around a golf course. No one in front of me, had a great time playing this course, and what a great course it is. You have to hit it, forced carries off the tee, second shots and approaches sometimes. Fairway bunkers, a grass bunker (loved that), a little water every so often makes for a challenging round. The greens were great, especially for this late date. The Par 3 8th is one of the prettiest holes I have ever played, even with the waterfall turned off. HA!!! I'll be back next year and play in a month with no R in it. You should too. Maplegate has to be even better during REAL golf season. I'll find out next summer. You should too.

unplayable
fairways were knee deep with leaves. If you don't want to maintain the course close it for the season

Great course
Very challenging course layout, makes you have to think about every shot. Fairways were in decent shape, staff was nice, and the pace of play was superb. The only complaint would be that the greens rolled like molasses. However with all the online deals they offer, definitely worth the money.
poor condition
upon arrival we were told the back nine was closed but we could play the front nine as many times as we wanted. The course was in poor condition and not worth playing. We were told they we trying to upgrade. That,s fine if you waited for a couple of years.

Nice course - greens a much slower than before.
The course is a nice layout.... Compare to a few years ago, the greens are a lot slower. I hope they put more work on the course to keep it in good shape.

Poorly marked TARGET golf
Tight target golf .... Need exact markings to hazards and visible yardage markers in fairways at 100 and 150
I believe this course has done a remarkable turnaround from last year. it is in unbelievable condition for a public course. this course does not deserve your rating! you have a scorecard , do the math.
