Agawam Municipal Golf Course
About
Agawam Municipal Golf Course has been a favorite among local golfers since first opening in 1944. It has a traditional layout that offers a few challenges but it's still player friendly enough for golfers of any skill levels. The holes are fairly straightforward but the gently rolling hills provide some subtly tricky elevation changes. There isn't any water on the golf course but there are mature trees lining the fairways. While it may not be what you're looking for if you're an avid golfer who wants a truly formidable test, Agawam Municipal Golf Course is not to be under-estimated. The greens can be tricky to pitch to and accuracy will take you far. This municipal course is a great spot for a quick and casual round that's also affordable.

Nine, par-3, 140. Playing steeply uphill, this is possibly the best-known, most interesting, and least liked hole at Agawam. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 09/05/2022

Good course once it drys out
The course was Extremely Wet otherwise it would have scored higher. The changes and modifications they are making show real improvement over what the course previously was. Defined fairways, better tees, rebuilt greens. They need to address the drainage problem they have. This course seems to always be wet.
terrible conditions
After paying for our round in the club house the starter asked us if we would like to add someone to our group that missed his tee time. We said we'd rather not if possible because we were discussing business. He got pretty passed and started acting like a jerk. Anyway that wasn't nearly as bad as the condition of the course. It was straight garbage. Co use was soaking wet. It was like walking on sponges in the fairway. Cart got stuck . Greens were ok. Dandelions everywhere. Would of left after 9 holes, but we skipped lunch to see if play picked up. It didn't. Got worse. No one let much faster groups play through. Starter can't space groups worth of a pound of cap in a bag. Waited over 15 minutes on a tee box because it was backed up 2 or 3 groups. I would hesitated to go back even if it was free.
Open front nine, tight and hilly back.
Even this time of year with all the leaves down, the was in excellent condition and our foursome had a great time.
course in good shape, including greens.
good shape, except that there were too many leaves. balls were being lost just off the fairway.
Well maintained, moderately challenging.
I have found Agawam Municipal always to be well maintained. The course is well laid out with a variety of different fairways and some pretty challenging holes.
For $11.00 it was fine.
The course was in good condition and it was a great way to spend an afternoon for $11.00!!!!
However, the carts need to be replaced! The seats were split with foam popping through. They also were in pretty bad shape mechanically. I wasn't sure our cart would make it and half the time the break didn't hold.
Play was pretty slow because on 2-3 occasions we had a single player in a cart hitting behind our group and we let them play through, rather than having them breath down our necks. Staff was nice and the facility clean.
Good course for the price
Overall, the greens were well maintained and the views are awesome. Definitely a course I will continue to golf at.
fairways need attention
play was fairly slow and there were no marshalls to increase speed.n The fairways were in need of serious attention. The only real positive was the golf now price
Horrible
Worst course I have played in years.greens are so slow and bumpy, its like putting in a dirty dust carpet.
Great layout for a fast paced round of 18.
Left work early to squeeze in 18 w/ a friend. Tee'd off @ 1 pm and finished just ahead of the leagues @ 4:30. Perfect day, great value for the golf now hot deal. Definitely will return.
A good value at the Golf Now price
Played in less than 3.5 hours with a cart on a recent Tuesday at 1:00 PM with a friend. Fairways were more like rough with the ball sitting down a lot. Many greens were small, sloping and hard. Difficult for approach shots to hold. First few holes are straight. Holes 9, 10 and 11 are steeply sloped and very testing.
Great staff!
We played 18 with a cart for $10.00 a person! Great deal, Great Staff and Fun course
Course is good but needs more and newer golf carts.
New golf carts needed. They also need more golf carts. We waited 25 min for carts to be available.
Good value
The greens are in nice shape. The fairways are in need of repair in many areas. The golf cart was not very reliable but it made it around the course. An unbeatable value for the GolfNow price of $12.00 plus tax with a cart for 18 holes. If I paid full price I would have been disappointed.
Properly irrigated.
Course is still green, even with all the heat. Small greens make great practice for the approach shots.
Reservation Cancelled
The reservation that I had made at this course was cancelled while I was on my way to the course. They explained that they were overbooked and had to cancel my tee time. As it was less than an hour before my tee time, I was not too happy
great day of golf with friends
great time on sunday.we had a foursome and the price was right.would recommend it to any golfer
18 holes of play
The course was in good shape however it was also very wet , if you didnt keep the ball in the fairways it was difficult to be able to find your ball due to plugging into the wet ground, with some warmer weather to dry out the course this would be a great place to play golf, i would recommend it to other golfers.
Good Value
The rough was a little thick for a muni, but the course was in good shape, and you can't get a better deal. Nice clubhouse, the 9th hole is a tricky uphill par 3 that was fun. Worth the purchase
