Agawam Municipal Golf Course
About
Agawam Municipal Golf Course has been a favorite among local golfers since first opening in 1944. It has a traditional layout that offers a few challenges but it's still player friendly enough for golfers of any skill levels. The holes are fairly straightforward but the gently rolling hills provide some subtly tricky elevation changes. There isn't any water on the golf course but there are mature trees lining the fairways. While it may not be what you're looking for if you're an avid golfer who wants a truly formidable test, Agawam Municipal Golf Course is not to be under-estimated. The greens can be tricky to pitch to and accuracy will take you far. This municipal course is a great spot for a quick and casual round that's also affordable.

Eight, an uphill par-5, stretches 518 yards. Its fairway tightens (and bounces right) in the landing zone for second shots. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 05/10/2026

Challenges at Agawam generally require accuracy instead of strength. This short par4, the twelfth, exemplifies that idea. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 05/10/2026

Nine, par-3, 140. Playing steeply uphill, this is possibly the best-known, most interesting, and least liked hole at Agawam. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 09/05/2022

From this high tee at 12, the tight landing zone looks all the more intimidating. The number of golfers who play from this blue tee is underwhelming. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 11/22/2021

9th: One of the toughest short par-3’s you’ll find anywhere. Pars are elusive on this hole. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 08/01/2021

18 holes of play
The course was in good shape however it was also very wet , if you didnt keep the ball in the fairways it was difficult to be able to find your ball due to plugging into the wet ground, with some warmer weather to dry out the course this would be a great place to play golf, i would recommend it to other golfers.
Good Value
The rough was a little thick for a muni, but the course was in good shape, and you can't get a better deal. Nice clubhouse, the 9th hole is a tricky uphill par 3 that was fun. Worth the purchase
Pristine greens
Will always remember this cinco de mayo day. Shot a 40 on front 9. the greens were pristine. best putts I ever made. Saw bears cross the 10th fairway. took some pictures. just an awesome day!!!!
Excellent Course
This is my "HOME" course. Agawam is in excellent condition, greens are great and staff is wonderful.
Greens are almost unplayable.
Almost all of the greens are like an upside-down bowl-- everything runs off. Even chips are very difficult to keep on the greens. I can't imagine when they are dry.
Holes alternate-- down, then up, then down, etc. Challenging.
Not many flat greens.
Great shape for a municipal golf course. Very hilly and may be hard to walk for some people. Great location. You feel like you are playing on the side of a mountain.
This course was in good shape
The course itself was in good shape. The greens were small and quick with lots of breaks most times a short shot with a bounce up was the best play. The issue I had was the lack of a starter and it caused really slow play. There were a lot of couples and a few people out there that looked as though they had never played before. There was no ranger to keep pace
