Redesign the 11th hole
An interesting course with moderate hills that require many sidehill lies. For the first timer, drives can be tricky because some landing areas are blind. Greens were fast and smooth. I finished in 3.5 hours, but pace was probably unusual because a 95-degree day kept down the crowd. Par 5 11th hole has a blind drive with narrow landing area that slopes into the rough. I don't know where you're supposed to aim it, unless you lay up with an iron off the tee or can carry it 250 yards. I hit a straight drive down the right side of the fairway and couldn't find my ball once I got over the crest of the hill.
Website rate
Went here because website advertised 9 holes for 25.00 between 1 and 3 Monday through Thursday. ..I was charged 39.00. When I questioned the advertised rate I was directed to the small print that rates are subjet to change. I personally feel that they should have honored the rate on their website.
Love this course
I love this golf course. The layout is fair but very interesting. Greens are quick but not unfair. I found that the cart paths are in pretty rough shape with bumps galore. Need some maintenance there. Some bad spots in the rough and a few tees also. I got an excellent rate through golf now and the staff was friendly and helpful. 4 tees allow you to pick your poison. Not a long course...requires accuracy and course knowledge to play it well.
Do not play if you are having a bad day
A truly imaginative course! You will not find many easy holes. Course management is a must. Many blind drives and shots. Can't wait to play it again now that I know the layout. This can be a very frustrating course if you let it get to you.
Nice but unfriendly.
Golf course is always in great shape. It is still coming out of aeration so the greens are not 100% yet but they are always fast and smooth once they come around. The course superintendent takes a lot of pride in the course and does a great job keeping it looking great. There is a very nice practice area with driving range. The biggest issue with this club is the lack of friendly staff. The starters are always grouchy and unfriendly.
Great Course, Plugged Greens
The fairways and rough were in great shape. Only issue was the greens were plugged a week or so ago and we didn't know it until we reached the first green. It would have been nice to have the guy in the proshop or on the website say the greens had been aerated.
The course layout was very challenging and the fairways were in great shape however the course had recently been aerated and the 9th hole played as a par 3 instead of a par 4....The aerated greens and temporary tee was a surprise as we weren't notified ahead of time...had o been notified earlier I would've chosen another course...
Would play again
I really liked the layout of this course, it makes you think about how to approach each shot as there are some obstacles that you need to consider with most swings.
Great Spring Round!
Love this course, even in the off season. It was in remarkable condition given the horrendous weather the few days prior. Highly recommend this course to golfers who live further North looking to play this Spring while the snow still melts in northern New England.
no water no beverage cart no excuse management
It should be a priority to assure water is available - especially on s hot and humid day.
Course with great potential is neglected
Please invest in the reconstruction of cart paths and bridges - what should be a good golf experience is made miserable by the physical abuse suffered from a very rough ride tee to green on every hole. The teeing area on a few holes should be an embarrassment to those responsible for maintaining this potentially great course.
What s shame
Absolute shame what this course has become. The only thing acceptable were the greens. The tee boxes were atrocious. The fairways and rough had hard pan everywhere. Not acceptable when every fairway is lined with trees. There was overgrown brush everywhere. Half the bunkers weren't raked. Golfnow had a rate of 47.50. When we got there they charged us $52. A ridiculous price for a weekday. Not to mention there was ZERO water on the whole course. Fix this place please
Good test of your game
I've played 7,000 yard courses that are easier. So don't be fooled by the yardage.
The greens here are the courses defense, and it's impossible to figure them out on practice green because it's not even close to how they play. They roll out a good 3 feet more than most courses and downhill putts are not stopping.
Tee boxes are in awful shape which is most likely due to the summer of no rain.
My only real complaint.
The past two times I've come, I got a bucket of balls to hit and the starter tried to send me off 5 min after arriving and well ahead of my actual tee time. If I'm paying $8 for a bucket of balls I'm hitting them.
Also #18 is top 5 finishing holes I've played anywhere.
Slow back nine
Love the course. Had my thirteen year old with me after eighteen he said great course ,but the back nine took 2:50 while the front took 2:00. Problem no ranger.
Great layout
Overall the course itself was in great shape. Can be a little tough if your not familiar with the course. If you can't see the landing area do not venture past it. Some holes require ball placement rather than power. Wish the course was a little longer. 6600 from the tips is not scary. You do not need driver on many holes. Conditions were great. No hard pan, greens were slow but expected bc its a public course. Pace of play was terrible. 5+ hours. Ranger needs to be more vigilant about slow play.
Great layout, great value
Hale Irwin Who did it right when he designed the New England country club. With tremendous elevation changes, scenery and forced carries this course is a really good experience. I know it's early in the season but the course was not in the best of shape, the tee boxes were fairly chewed up and the greens, though aerated, were in tough shape. Hopefully as the year goes along the course will grow into its own as it is a really nice layout and a good challenge of golf.
Nice track
Pace was a little slow because frost in the am created backup. Fairways were well manicured, Greens were very fast. Some pin placements were tricky.
Good test for intermediate golfers as the shorter holes are trouble.
Great deal
Played in March on hot deal $30 with cart. Nice course and every hole is different. Would come back for sure. Great conditions for March.
Used to be a gem
I loved playing this course when I was younger but now it's a shell of what it was. The conditions have fallen off dramatically. They continue to charge rates that would put it in the upper echelon but it's not
aging in between shots.
Played labor day. Only played 12 holes because of the back up on the close. Waited 7 minutes in between shots and sometimes as much as 10 minutes to tee off.
They do not hold their tee times to a strict time. If you're 20 minutes late they let you go out there and play. The first par 5 had 4 groups on it. Finally walked off after 12 holes. Also they don't move their tee boxes so most of them had no had to hit off. Mostly dirt. I use to love this course.
