The greens were aerated recently, still recovering, sandy bumpy, long grass. No notification from golfnow or discount, what gives?

Overall in good shape, if you don't mind the greens (some dirt areas as well), play it.

Friendly staff and fantastic course. Greens and fairways were in good shape (few spots were under repair, but otherwise maintained well). Quite an accomplishment when the players don’t repair their divots or pitch marks when they actually hit the greens! I mean Massachusetts hasn’t seen scalps like that since the puritans.. if you play here please respect the course better.

overall nice local course, very narrow fairways, lot of "fore" warnings and balls flying around. Should have water available on the golf course on a hot day.

Was scheduled to play 18. We left after 9. First 5 hoes were smooth. 6-9 took almost an hour and a half. Groups in front of us jammed together and no ranger to fix the problem. This was a 9:51 tee time on a Friday. I understand that it’s a public course and have no problem with a reasonable pace of play, but this was absurd.

We were on vacation in the area and just picked this course for the good reviews.

We were so pleasantly surprised this course did not disappoint, challenging and fun. We’re seniors so we can’t always reach the par 4s on many courses, but this course has many reachable par 4s and 5s.

Very interesting layout and design. Course was in great shape except for a few tee boxes but I except that now as NBD. Large fast greens (I 3 putted the first 3 holes until I got used to them) and the fairways were like hitting off some greens I’ve played. If you’ve never played here before I suggest you pair up with someone that has because the holes crisscross each other and you have to jump over tees & greens to get to the next hole, very confusing layout, but I still loved it. i’ll give credit to the two guys who were my course guide for suggesting the review title. Every hole is lined with trees on both sides 20 yards off the fairway and street straight shots are a must. This course is a must play and I will certainly be back.

Enjoyed this course even though I mostly hit irons off the tees due to shorter distances and tight fairways. I was mostly scrambling to get to the greens, almost never on in regulation. Greens were soft and ran true.

Cart paths need some repair and are pretty bumpy. Repairs seem to be taking place.

Would play again.

I drive over an hour to play at Butternut several times a season. Pretty, challenging course, interesting layout, in nice shape. Staff is always very friendly. Highly recommend

I played this course a few years ago once. It was in a great shape. Greens were perfect and so were fairways. I played it again on 7-25-26, and some greens are patchy with dirt and sand all over them. Shame on whoever is in charge of this beautiful course.

You never know what your going to get when you go to a course you don't know. We were visiting from Canada. The course was in great shape and a challenging layout with very tight holes for the most part. Target golf.

Fairways are great greens are good. Tee boxes need work. I’m growing to like this course. Obviously very tight off most tee boxes. But solid course.

The course overall is good, first green is pretty rough, a couple of others have some patches.

Overall a good course for walking or riding, narrow fairways (opened up a little), some good challenges will test your game and shot making.

Always love butternut been playing there over 20 years best value in the whole state not even close

I’ve been playing butternut since it opened many years ago it’s my go to course the course is great it’s tight but extremely well taken care of I highly recommend it

Hadn't played the course in a while. Was sent off by myself and the foursome in front of me let me pass on the second hole. Didn't see anyone till the back nine and a couple let me pass on 14or 15. Took my time and even played 2balls on a couple of holes. Still finished in 21/2 hrs. Very enjoyable round.
