Terrible
I haven’t played this course in several years, but I grew up down the street from it. It was once a great course…but no more. There is nothing good about the course. Fairways, greens, pace of play…all terrible. Do yourself a favor, drive 5 minutes down the road and play Butternut Farms. You won’t be disappointed.
Good but not great
Stow South was always the lesser of the two courses, and the driving range cutting off the 10th tee just adds to this decline. Tragic that they chopped up the North Course rather than the South.
Stow Acres
I will admit that I am from the south where maintenance of a course is easier but for the price we paid at Stow we would have played on a very well maintained course in the south. This one was not. The greens were fine, had a few patchy spots but overall ok, so were the fairways but the rough had a lot of dirt patches. Also the holes were laid out a little strange. I assume it is because they didn’t have larger splits of land. For example on one hole you had to cross another hole to get to the tee box. Not impressed with this course especially for the price.
What's up with the greens?
Played Stow South course and was really disappointed with the upkeep of the greens throughout. Massive bald spots on about 50% of them. The staff and pace of play were excellent but bummed to be putting through dirt every other hole. Hope they can address it all over the winter!
Don’t.
Terrible shape. More sand on the greens instead of the bunkers. Fairway an interesting combo of crabgrass and hard pan. One of the courses has 17 holes? Concrete tees ..greens composed of dead grass and painted dirt. Putting was the hit and hope method..very sad because it has the bones of a good layout but it’s so far gone, you’d almost have to start all over. Yet despite the incredibly poor conditions they still charge full price. Should have gone back to the car after seeing the putting green ..an omen of things to come. Play everywhere else
On par with Leo Martin…
The course was in absolute disrepair and the course conditions were as bad as any I’ve seen. The greens were half dirt and the tee boxes were like concrete. This in place is in shambles compared to where it’s been historically.
Needs help
Greens are terrible. Grass rot. Green paintited sand on greens. The course layout is great! Used to be a great course but it has been neglected.
Don’t spend you time and $$$ playing here
This course is trashed and it has totally fallen apart over the years. I will never play it again. And don't bring your good clubs. I’d replace the grounds crew. The the course was so deplorable that we left with out finishing. The greens were in poor condition, fairways totally cooked. There are rocks, mud, roots and garbage (even a pair of diapers) all over the place. Was keeping a USGA score until realizing the course no longer conforming. The distances were off. Hole 3 was missing a green and had the stick stuck in the mud on the fairway. Hole 11 is now frisbee golf and moved to a rocky track and hole 12 is missing all together. They offered us another day to play. My free time is worth more to me than to ever go back there.
Stay away Acres
The. Course is in awful shape . Tees beat up and burnt out . Greens on are diseased or burnt out . . Eighty nine dollars to play a dog track! They have shortened the tenth hole to put in a new enclosed driving range( Top GOLF WANNA BE) . They have put nothing into the courses . Used to be the nicest public course in Greater Boston now one of the worst . How can you put hundred of thousand of dollars into a driving range and not take care of the courses! What a shame . Total ripoff.
How the mighty have fallen
Don't waste your time, front 9 greens resemble something from a horror film.
The main reason you play stow was for the greens. Every other course around has amazing greens so I was quite surprised to see thus turn into a dog track. 80 bucks with a cart was about 45 bucks too much.
Sad.
Course has been going downhill for a couple years. Not worth the high greens fees
