Nice course, good conditions
Played here for the second time this month. Pace of play was good (Thursday afternoon), and course conditions were very good. Some courses are showing stress due to dry conditions but Butternut fairways and greens are in very good condition. Nice mix of easy and difficult holes, and a beautiful‘signature’ hole on #8 where you jave to carry about 160-180 over water off the white and blue tees. Nice mix of tee shots, not all of which require driver. No driving range but has a putting green. Nice clubhouse with food and drinks inside or outside.
It delivers
Look - it is a value course. Don’t be looking for more. The greens were excellent, if a tad slow. The fairways decent. Tee boxes a little torn up. They could do with seed/sand boxes by the tee where (some) golfers will patch their screw-ups. Also on the carts. The layout is … in need of an arborist. Too much grow-out from the trees lining the fairways. It was not designed to be that tight., Honestly, you just need a 3W no driver and you can reach just about anything in reg. The course is pretty short. Slicers will hate this course.
Gorgeous
This course is well maintained and beautifully kept. We loved it and will definitely be back. Tight fairways but not impossible.
No Rain Checks!!!
Maybe you can talk with them but I was getting ill at the end of 9 holes. I took a break and sat down but was not getting better. I asked for a Rain Check and they said we don't give those out. I was not happy!
Hit it straight
Fu.n course to play. Good conditions with the exception of a few tee boxes. Some really tight driving holes. Some fun challenging holes for sure. Wind can swirl between the trees. I hit most of my 14 clubs. I will go back.
Love this course
Loved the course - wish I lived close enough to play it on a regular basis. Narrow and challenging, the course makes you work for every shot.
Pace of play was good until around 7th hole then terrible called for a ranger but didn't seem to happen as group in front just got slower. Another nice courseruined by poor time management . At $90 with cart I'll give it a miss next time.
Beautiful course
We enjoyed our first time at Butternut. We will return to enjoy the park like design.
Nice tight course, needs more yardage marking
Course was in great shape, including greens. They need more yardage marking - can't tell how far you are without using an App
Great course that will make you work for it
Great course in great shape. Challenging but fair.
5 hours
Pace of play was a joke. Ranger came out in 10 asked about pace we told him it was slow. Ranger proceeded to yell at us telling us he was warning everyone . Didn’t know what we could do ? Group ahead of us was complaining about group ahead of them. Get to a blind spot on 10 and have to wait because drink cart is serving drinks at the bottom of hill. we were forced to wait this was directly after a warning from ranger. 5 hours to get yelled at by ranger who we saw only once utter joke
Great Course but Narrow
The course, the staff and the amenities are great, my only complaint is how narrow this golf course is. If they trimmed back the trees this would be one of the best hidden gems in the area. The problem is that there is zero variety off the tee due to how narrow the course is. There are plenty of dog legs and you can't really cut any of the corners. You could play this entire course hitting it stricly 200-230 yards off the tee. The variety of Par 3's is not as important but not great either. I hit PW on every par 3.
