GVSU
Friendly helpful staff, and a well maintained course.
Beautiful Course
Great course and in great shape! Course was playing fast!
Excellent course
From the staff, starting with Alex to the starter, they were very friendly. The Course was in Excellent shape, greens and fairways!
Great course. Slow greens.
Wonderful course it’s one of my favorites and the greens are usually pretty fast but not that day. It was early when we played so the grass hadn’t grown to slow the ball. Usually they run 10-11 on a Stimpmeter but that day it was probably around a 7. Other than that it was fun and love the course. Don’t bring any cash as it’s a cash free course everywhere even in the bar area.
Great course
Friendly clubhouse staff which is a reflection of the head pro imo, starter/ rangers should probably patrol a bit more. Greens are very good w plenty of pace especially in the afternoon when the prevailing wind off nearby Lake Michigan winds get up. Prevailing winds are typically quartering either R-L or L-R across most of the course but the 4 par 3s are all into the wind. The tee yardages give one plenty of choices to suit the length of one's game . The patrons could use some instruction on how to rake bunkers and even some reminders to rake them after use..
Not really a complaint but the course doesn't have forced carries or elevation changes other than a minimal drop on 17.
Overall I rec'd it highly, it's a good stroke play course and match play as well imo
Greens are in great shape ...
Walked 18 in gusty winds which made some of the holes quite long and challenging.
Still a few wet areas but overall the course is in great condition and the greens are very good, soft enough to stop the ball on but firm and fast enough for putting. A week ago they were slow as they were growing in and we not cut as tight.
Bunkers, tees and fairways are all well maintained and was nice to have water stations out as it was in the 80's and a warm walk.
Great Course, Challenging but Fair
I live the Meadows for playability and course conditions. As a 12 handicap, I look for a sub-80 round as my measure of a great day! There are some holes that are birdieable, but none “easy.” They turned #1 into a par 4. It used to be drive, long iron or 3H or 5 metal. I had a great drive 7 iron down wind to shallow green. Gotta have a great short game as #16 is the same difficulty driver, driver off the deck into strong wind and had 20 yards left as caught rough in front of green. Ya better be able to chip and putt!
Excellent Course, but a Little Crowded
When I am looking to play a round of golf, I am usually hesitant to look at Meadows because it is always so jam-packed as 4-somes. But it’s often the only option if I want to play at 4pm on a Monday when other courses are booked up with leagues. Excellent quality course with icy-fast greens, top-notch holes, though mostly flat but plenty of water, sand and fescue. I don’t feel that I am forced to strategize too often, but that’s typical of all golf courses.
