Rouge Park Golf Course
About
Rouge Park Golf Course is the city of Detroit's hidden gem. The course has been a local favorite since it first opened in 1923. Despite the expansion of Detroit's golf offerings in later years, Rouge Park G.C. is still considered one of the best and most challenging of them all. The tranquil setting boasts an abundance of wildlife including deer, pheasants, and herons, making you completely forget that you're in the city. The golf course was carved from rolling hills, providing tricky contours and dramatically elevated tees. The Rouge River winds through the layout, coming into play on six holes. The difficulty of the course is balanced by the wide, player-friendly fairways. The par-4 11th is considered one of the Detroit metro area's toughest holes. It requires a 280-yard drive in order to clear not just one but two water hazards.

Rouge Park - Continues to Improve
I’ve played this course through the years and agree that this course has great potential to improve. The greens were moderately fast and the fairways well maintained. The mosquitoes can be an issue as management failed to address the issue in a timely manner. The service (staff and marshals) were very helpful and that in itself makes me want to come back - The course will continue to improve and they’ll remember to take care of those bugs..
This golf course has come a long way since the first time I played it. It is really well kept and continues to get better every time I come back. It really is a gem
Good times
They have done a remarkable job of improving the conditions of this gem.... it keeps getting better each time I play.
Hidden sleeper
The course was in awesome condition. It’s a little confusing to find, and the outside is it marked terribly well as far is finding where to go to the first tee. The course layout was very nice and the course was challenging and I will definitely return to play there again.
Underrated Sleeper
Great greens. Better shape than ever. Great value! Don’t sleep on Detroit.
Staff doesn’t care about your tee time
I’ve played here twice. This will be my last time. Both times my tee time came and went while waiting for the staff to show up. Didn’t even offer me a discount for teeing off a half hour after my booked tee time (both instances). This is a fun course, however the staffs attitude towards its patrons puts it on my no golf list from here on out.
Great challenge
Always love playing this course. Have to place your ball strategically on a number of holes in order to score. This is one of a few courses I could play everyday
Very fun course for the price
This course was a pleasure to play. The holes were unique and interesting. The course was very reasonably priced and in terrific shape. My only suggestion for improvement would be some more signs to help find your way around. As a first timer it was tough to find some of the tees. All in all it was a terrific experience and I will play this course again in the future.
Fun Par 3's
Overall cool course. Pretty good condition with paying $23 for a round in Detroit. The staff was really friendly and helpful. Course layout was a tad goofy, as my playing partner and I had to ask couple groups if we were going the right way. The greens were consistent and fun. The hole layouts were my favorite part. Each hole felt like it had some unique quirk to it beyond just a simple "dogleg left". Some of the par 3's, in particular, almost felt absurd but made for an interesting round.
