Rouge Park Golf Course
About
Rouge Park Golf Course is the city of Detroit's hidden gem. The course has been a local favorite since it first opened in 1923. Despite the expansion of Detroit's golf offerings in later years, Rouge Park G.C. is still considered one of the best and most challenging of them all. The tranquil setting boasts an abundance of wildlife including deer, pheasants, and herons, making you completely forget that you're in the city. The golf course was carved from rolling hills, providing tricky contours and dramatically elevated tees. The Rouge River winds through the layout, coming into play on six holes. The difficulty of the course is balanced by the wide, player-friendly fairways. The par-4 11th is considered one of the Detroit metro area's toughest holes. It requires a 280-yard drive in order to clear not just one but two water hazards.

Lions rock
Ranger on course was friendly, starter was overwhelmed with combining groups. We were sent out with a twosome playing nine. Group behind had allsona nine twosome and eighteen twosomes. Front desk with only one register taking food orders and checking in golfers , kept me from propped warmup as spent fifteen minutes trying to check in.
Excellent golf course
Rating: ★★★★★
I had an exceptional experience at Rouge Park golf course. The course is beautifully maintained, offering a perfect blend of challenging holes and stunning scenery. The greens were fast and true, and the fairways were in pristine condition. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, making sure our group had everything we needed for a great day of golf. The clubhouse amenities were top-notch, with a well-stocked pro shop and a fantastic restaurant to unwind in after our round. Whether you’re a seasoned golfer or a beginner, this course is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be coming back!
New management making progress
New management took over in July. Unfortunately they were greeted with flooding and plenty of drainage issues. Making headway... Traps raked, tee boxes were improved and greens were fast... Keep up the good work..
Great Old Course
This course is rough around the edges, but it is a treat to play.
Some really long and tough par 4s.
One of my faves.
Rouge Park - Continues to Improve
I’ve played this course through the years and agree that this course has great potential to improve. The greens were moderately fast and the fairways well maintained. The mosquitoes can be an issue as management failed to address the issue in a timely manner. The service (staff and marshals) were very helpful and that in itself makes me want to come back - The course will continue to improve and they’ll remember to take care of those bugs..
This golf course has come a long way since the first time I played it. It is really well kept and continues to get better every time I come back. It really is a gem
Good times
They have done a remarkable job of improving the conditions of this gem.... it keeps getting better each time I play.
Hidden sleeper
The course was in awesome condition. It’s a little confusing to find, and the outside is it marked terribly well as far is finding where to go to the first tee. The course layout was very nice and the course was challenging and I will definitely return to play there again.
Underrated Sleeper
Great greens. Better shape than ever. Great value! Don’t sleep on Detroit.
