Rouge Park Golf Course
About
Rouge Park Golf Course is the city of Detroit's hidden gem. The course has been a local favorite since it first opened in 1923. Despite the expansion of Detroit's golf offerings in later years, Rouge Park G.C. is still considered one of the best and most challenging of them all. The tranquil setting boasts an abundance of wildlife including deer, pheasants, and herons, making you completely forget that you're in the city. The golf course was carved from rolling hills, providing tricky contours and dramatically elevated tees. The Rouge River winds through the layout, coming into play on six holes. The difficulty of the course is balanced by the wide, player-friendly fairways. The par-4 11th is considered one of the Detroit metro area's toughest holes. It requires a 280-yard drive in order to clear not just one but two water hazards.

Always plays well
This was the first time I played the course this year. It’s nice to see the updates and upgrades being made to the course. New bridges and posts look nice. The course was in great condition.
Work to do
Look, they’re trying. The course is getting some upgrades (draining, sprinkler system fixes, recovered the greens from a bad winter a couple seasons ago, new bridges) and it’s all needed. However, there’s little excuse for the fairways not being mowed down (it was tough to tell where there was rough and fairway as they were identical in areas). The tee boxes were awful. There’s no excuse to not move the tees around and seed the areas that have been worn (and not move the tees back until the grass has grown back). The greens needed to be rolled and/or mowed. All that said, Rouge is still a challenging layout. It’s a very affordable round of golf and the pace is about 4 hrs. You’ll have fun.
Rouge park
Nice tough courses i love it lots of Par 5's and tall rough grass makes you bring your A game good price too
Go another 5 miles to play better courses at same fee
Course is in terrible shape. Pace of play was awful, waited 10 minutes at least after every shot. They over book. Ended up leaving after 6 holes and didn’t even try to get a rain check.
Still love this course
Teeboxes were like a baseball diamond but besides that it is a great course. 2nd hole is one of the hardest holes in Michigan.
great course
Best golf course inside the Detroit city limits. The course plays and feels like you are upnorth long and challenging. Great improvements being made all around the course new bridges picnic area painting and sprucing up the old course.
Classic 100 year old Donald Ross
First course I ever played on in the 1960s. Played all over the USA since, grew up in the area at Plymouth and telegraph. I’m been back again And excited to see this course is well maintained and improved recently. New bridges , updated banquet area and fences..Greens are small but excellent ,touchy part of town now but never had a problem. This course with alittle not TLC will be the best Detroit has to offer. Hope they continue the improvements!!!!
WASTE OF TIME!
Horrible pace and hospitality here. Don’t even bother, extremely better courses in the Detroit area for $10 more.
Unique course, a character of its own.
After arriving the course parking lot, I wasn’t sure I came to right place, the club house is so tiny and run down. After a few holes, I realized it is a very interesting and challenging course. The fairways are well kept and the greens are in excellent shape. Definitely worth the money.
This course is worth the price
Tough course for the price, greens maintained. Holes end up being harder than they look. Love this course.
Rouge is looking awesome!!!
I've never had any complaints about Rouge GC but there is plenty more good things about it now. All of the bridges have been replaced. New carts Greens are rolling great. The course overall, the staff as usual are awesome. Rouge has been one of my favorite courses to play. Really fun course with multiple challenges.
