The Captains Club Golf & Event Center

About
Located just 15 minutes from Flint, The Captains Club Golf & Event Center is one of the area's most popular public courses and it was even voted Grand Blanc's best golf course. Known as much for the challenging layout as it is for the affordable rates. The spacious layout offers plenty of room with wide-open fairways, none of which run parallel to one another. Dense stands of mature trees enclose most of the holes, making them feel even more peacefully secluded. Towering trees loom above the narrow fairways and they also surround the large, undulating greens. Water also has a prominent presence on the golf course. A series of waterways weave through the holes, almost completely surrounding some of the greens. The Captains Club Golf & Event Center is a course that will test your iron skills, but there aren't many opportunities for driving.

Don't go...
Hopefully next year it is redone but don't waste your money on it this year. It's burnt up pretty bad.
Pretty burnt up
Not worth it. Burnt pretty bad. From tee to green not much green.
Maybe next year.
Course needs some help
The course has gone down hill over the years and was in terrible condition. I did hear that Sugarbush purchased the course so I am hopefully it will be nice again. The turf and paths were in very poor condition, but the layout is wonderful. Lots of opportunity for improvement!
Course Conditions Are Terrible!
Played this course today for the first time this year, very disappointed and concern on the condition of the entire course. Water has not been used anywhere. The first sign was the practice putting green. It used to be the best and lush, now it’s burnt. All the fairways are yellow and burnt. The greens have bare spots, burnt sections and little patches of actual green grass! The tee boxes are a joke, they’ haven’t seen water except by what Mother Nature provided. There are signs that they’ve identified numerous sprinkler heads for repair and there are quite a few that have been uncovered to work on. It’s going to take a long time for this course to get back to where it use to be. I won’t be playing this course again. Sad!
Concerns on Course Conditions
Played the course for the first time this year with friends. Very concern with the entire course. It appears that no water has been used on the entire course. The practice green is burnt, the fairways aren’t much better, same thing on the greens! Many of the sprinklers are tagged with flags. We’re guessing “not working?”
Did see a group of young people working on the uncovered sprinklers on the first hole. Course needs a lot of work. This is the worst I’ve ever seen this course in! Don’t plan on returning until things improve dramatically!
Terrible service
Showed up for a 6pm tee time, while it was raining outside. The storm was passing in the next 15 minutes. Rangemaster said to wait out the rain. After rain stopped we went inside to pay. And we were turned away due to the course “not being very fun” according to the hound man working the pro shop. Asked if we could play 9 instead of 18, due to weather and time delay. And we were laughed at by the person in the pro shop. We drove over 45 minutes to play and no one from our group of 4 will be returning. All in all. Absolutely atrocious experience. And as leaving we saw them letting people go out and play.
GOD AWFUL
I have played here previously multiple times. It was a very nice course. I was excited to play. Literally, the worst course I’ve ever played in my entire life. They’ve apparently decided to never water, a fairway, a green. Every green was diseased. Hitting eight irons for 200 yards because the fairways were concrete. It was the worst experience I’ve literally ever had golfing. And I don’t take that lightly. I’m very sad that this course has degenerated to this point. I will never play here again.
Never going back! We loved this course for the past two years. Now it’s the worst course I’ve ever played! Spray painted greens with cracks! Ashamed of the complete 180 this place done!
Awful conditions
Some of the worst course conditions I’ve ever seen. Greens were like concrete, but painted green. Balls bounced 20 feet into the air after they hit the fairways or greens. Tee boxes were sand and dirt. Will not play there again.
Give it a year or two
Under new management. I would say in a year or two they’ll fix the water system so the course isn’t like a barren land. Dry fairways and greens caused excessive roll, mixed with leaking waterlines that created flooded areas were frustrating. Front nine has a lot of water, so you have to keep it in the fairway, or bring a bunch of balls
Burnt out
Greens and fairways were in shambles, pace of play was very fast. If ur an avid golfer I wouldn’t recommend but if ur a beginner golfer I would. Course has potential to be a great one if they put some money, and time into the course.
Needs Work
The tee boxes are beat up and many of the greens have fungus or disease spots
Needs upgrading
The course was in very ruff shape. Tee boxes are in bad shape. Bunkers are unplayable. Greens have dead spots on the . Fairways are in ruff shape. Course design is very nice hope the course can get back to where is was 20 years ago
