The Captains Club Golf & Event Center

About
Located just 15 minutes from Flint, The Captains Club Golf & Event Center is one of the area's most popular public courses and it was even voted Grand Blanc's best golf course. Known as much for the challenging layout as it is for the affordable rates. The spacious layout offers plenty of room with wide-open fairways, none of which run parallel to one another. Dense stands of mature trees enclose most of the holes, making them feel even more peacefully secluded. Towering trees loom above the narrow fairways and they also surround the large, undulating greens. Water also has a prominent presence on the golf course. A series of waterways weave through the holes, almost completely surrounding some of the greens. The Captains Club Golf & Event Center is a course that will test your iron skills, but there aren't many opportunities for driving.

Disappointment
I last played this course about 4 years ago and was a good experience. Unfortunately, my expectations were let down completely on this occasion.
Come of the tee boxes resembled plowed fields. The fairways were in poor condition and lacked any care or attention. I counted at least four greens where there were large bare patches or rolled mud in place of grass. In general, the course was unmaintained and of poor quality. I had numerous courses in the proceeding week in the same area and this course was well below any of the other courses I had played. I do not think this was good value for the money spent.
Captains club
Course is not what it used to Be. Fairways are dry. Greens are pretty good.
Going downhill
This used to be a great track and well maintained over the past several years.
They have let it ho DOWNHILL
Great course
Awesome course, especially for the price. I've seen $70 courses that aren't as good.
Too much potential
Saw this was a previouse PGA course in a super nice neighborhood. Started with a beautiful club house saw they had nice newer electric carts and then I got on the first hole and realized it was cheap because the course upkeep is almost non existence. Such a tough well designed course that is ruined with bad teeboxex no tee signs and horible greens and cart paths. It would be AMAZING if they hired like 2 good grounds people to put in the work and get the course back in shape.
course in poor repair
greens and tee boxes are in poor repair as is the cart path. No one working on the course up keep like you usually see at a nice course.
New Ownership SUCKS!
WOW, WOW, and WOW. Played this course last summer for the first time after attending a wedding and seeing how nice the area was. First time playing was great! Course was very large and the course was in wonderful condition. Greens were immaculate and fairways provided great lies for approach shots. Fast forward to last weekend and I am lost for words. We were told the course was going under new ownership and that the new owner intended on taking better care of the place since he was said to be a "retired PGA professional." I was surprised to hear that it was going to get better when it was such a nice kept course. This place looks worst than an abandoned golf course. Scorecards don't even have the Captain's Club logo or map on it anymore. Every single tee box is missing grass that you can't even hit off of them half the time. Fairways are burnt and missing grass everywhere. Get up to the greens and there are divots everyone, patches of grass missing or burnt. Don't get me wrong, I understand the lack of water in Michigan but not on the areas that should be getting hit with water. I couldn't believe my eyes. EVERY SINGLE HOLE is atrocious. Pace of play was so bad we had 2 groups waiting behind each hole. Everything in the rough is grown over so line of site is limited on some holes. I doubt this place even has a greenskeeper anymore or any maintenance at that. Whoever owns this or is in charge of this place now should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. This was once a beautiful country club in the middle of a big, expensive neighborhood. DO NOT play this course. You couldn't even pay me to play here at this point for $55.
Putter’s Revenge
I three putted for par on the 9th hole resulting in slamming my putter in my bag. Went into the clubhouse to have a refreshment to come out and realize on the 10 hole my putter was no longer in my bag. This is a nice place with nice people working there, why someone would take something out of another’s bag is beyond me….Hide yo kids , hide yo putter they looting out there on Friday evenings…..
Wow - not in a good way
The course is in horrible shape. The tees are atrocious. Some of the greens were mowed too low and brown. The cart paths were as bad as the Michigan roads. I can’t begin to define how disappointed I was in this course. Pace of play was horrible with two groups waiting on every tee. It seems the course has given up on this being anything but a cow pasture. Actually a cow pasture would be better.
Worst golf course ever
Tee boxes were brown with no grass, greens were drivin on with carts, hole 11 and 13 have cup damage around the hole. Save your money don’t ever come here please.
Blind
The course layout and design is amazing. If they maintained the course it would be one of the nicest in Michigan. The fairways are all brown and hard. The greens are spotty and dead. No course map on cards, or tee boxes no gps on cart so you have no idea of most drives and 2nd shots only markers are at 150 yard. For $55 not worth it.
Decent
Pace of play has improved, but the course badly needs water. The drought has left a lot of brown where there should be green - tees, fairways, greens.
