Good course, greens and fairways, great deal
Great greens, good fairways nicely soft and green, good tee boxes, sand is ok some pebbles and not hard.
Played 18 blue and red course at 7am 7/8/24. No mosquitos. I do not understand why anyone would have bad review of this course for $20-$25 deal for 18.
Budget track
This is the cheapest course in the area. If you're expecting new carts, GPS, smooth cart paths, go pay $20 more to play elsewhere. I'm happy courses like this still exist that bring the game of golf to all people.
The course is set up as (3) 9-hole courses, blue is a standard par 36, red was a par 37, and white is a par 34. Longest par 3 was 170 yards. A few challenging tee shots require you to be straight, especially on the red course. Some tee boxes had overhanging trees to get around. There's virtually no difference between the blue and white tees.
Greens were great - tons of seed, ran smooth, grains were a little long but there was plenty of seed. Greens weren't too challenging, not much slope. Can't comment on the sand, greenside bunkers weren't really in play outside of a couple holes on the red 9. Tee boxes were small. Fairway grass and rough was long but maintenance was off for the 4th of July and then we had a bunch of rain on the 5th so they get a break. We were pleasantly surprised to see a drink cart on the course.
Tee times are run on 8-minute intervals while (6) other public courses in the area are running on 9- or 10-minute intervals, so make sure to check in advance how crowded the course is before booking, otherwise you could be looking at a 5+ hour round.
White 9 Holes
First time playing the White 9. It's a very nice and easy track with some nice views and great setups. Greens were in very solid shape except for some players who didn't fix their ball marks.
Fairways in excellent condition. A few tees are just mid condition. Bang for the buck, I'd go back in a heartbeat!
What Happened?
This course is just one big mess. Most fairways were under water, cart paths were a big mud pit. Greens were slow and bumpy. Paid 39$ and it’s a 20$ course at best. Won’t be back.
Long grass and rude owner
I lost 6 Chrome Soft balls in the 1st cut?!!! The 1st cut was extremely thick and long (3-6 inches long). Good shots just off the fairway and I couldn’t locate my ball. The fairways were the length of normal 1st cut rough. Couldn’t backspin off the fairway because grass was between my club and the ball. Greens were also hairy and very slow. I wrote a Google Review and the owner replied with a rude comment basically telling me I don’t know what I’m talking about. Man I wish I would have taken some pictures lol. Course is NOT worth $38 on a Wednesday. It was fairly empty and beautiful outside, so apparently others feel the same way. Drive a little further to go to Timber Trace, Chumung Hills, or Hunters Ridge. Similar pricing and these courses embarrass Hartland Glen
Decent Course For Price
I played the white course 9 holes after a decent rain on Thursday night and Friday. It was very wet and sloppy and I lost my ball a couple of times because I lost it in the sky and because it was so wet it didn't bounce so I couldn't locate. Other than that the course was good for the price. The white course was fairly easy as everything was straight down the middle for the most part with few hazards. Greens were relatively easy to read and well upkept. Overall I have played this course a few times and keep going back because of the price and variety of courses. I go before 7am usually to avoid large groups of people. Can get done in about and hour or so and very rarely get caught up in slow play.
Nice challenging course
Beautiful course I will be back i played horrible sending many balls into water but I'll blame the rain. 🤣🤣
Great Deal
I have played here for years and it has been through its ups and downs. This year however it is the best I have ever seen it! The greens are smooth and true (not the fastest around) and consistent. The fairways have improved vastly and have grass in them. Every time I play the rangers say hi and seem to be repairing ball marks on greens for hours everyday!
For the price and the pace of play (I have never played in over 4 hrs 30 min (including on Father's DAy) I love visiting here multiple times per month. It never seems they just want my money but are happy to see us! Highly recommend
Great course for the money!
Overall condition is better then a lot of other courses in the area, and for the price it is hard to beat. Definitely been one of my favorite tracks the last couple years.
Slow playing rough shapr
Course was in horrible shape! We paid a pretty penny and still were held up at every hole because the group in front of us was not keeping with the pace of play. This course was worth $15 a round at best and we paid double that.
Dog track and terrible staff
I’ve played here quite a few times and usually you deal with the course conditions for the low cost. This year the staff has been incredibly rude and the last time I played we were rushed off the course by the ranger at 7:30pm (sun set was 9:16pm that day). After a lot of arguing in the pro shop they were generous enough to offer a voucher for $3.89. I’ll never go back and I’ve told this to many people in the community who have said the same thing they’ll never go back either. Course is barely maintained at this point as they probably hope to sell the rest now to another development.
Somewhere to play
It's not a bad course. Some of the greens look like ppl have taken chips from them. Other greens are in perfect shape. If it's slow make sure to have bug spray. The mosquitoes were relentless in the AM while I was waiting. Definitely get a "deal time" tho. I paid 20 for 18 and I wanted to play the 3rd 9 hole course they had. So I went in to pay and asked if I could throw another 10 and pay the last nine. Dude ended up charging me 20 for another 9. That was a 1st to ever getting upsold like that but I wanted to just go keep playing. If I were an unethical man I could've very easily just went and played the other course and I'm absolutely positive nobody would've even noticed.
Just a guess, you bought a Hot Deal the first round...you do know the golf courses do not get a dime from those right?
In my humble opinion they may have the smoothest greens around (not the fastest)
Nice course for the money
Great price, great course. Easy to navigate. Not overly busy. Nice staff. Been here before and will definitely be back again. I’ve played the red and blue courses, maybe I’ll try the whites next time.
Hartland Glen
This was my second time playing here, but it has been several years in between. I don't remember the first time much at all, but I found this time to be noteworthy. It was threatening rain, so I don' know if that made people cancel or not, but the pace of play was fantastic. I let one guy who was playing faster than me play through and I never saw anyone else throughout the round. It did rain some, but I continued to play. The tee boxes were in decent shape - they show the use of recent rounds. The fairways were well maintained and were being managed while I was playing. The greens were terrific. Some decent hole locations made things challenging. Really enjoyed the course this time around. As always, I buy a Hot Deal on Golf Now and hope for the best. I play various courses, I like to try as many as I can, but I will definitely be going back to Hartland Glen. Practice putting green, driving range, clubhouse, pro-shop - they have everything you need.
horrible? strongly disagree with this comment
