West at Gull Lake View Golf Club and Resort

About
Situated in southwest Michigan's beautiful lake region, Gull Lake View Golf Club offers five championship courses that are easily accessible from Detroit, Toledo, Chicago, Grand Rapids, and Lansing, making it a favorite for golfers from all over the Midwest and Great Lakes. It is also less than 3 hours from some parts of Canada. Gull Lake View West is the club's original course. The club is the oldest and largest in southwest Michigan and it all started with the West Course. Opened in 1963, the golf course has a traditional layout that offers a challenging but fair test. The natural terrain takes center stage on this course. The layout plays across grassy meadows, rolling hills, and valleys and there are also a few densely wooded holes. The diverse terrain calls for a variety of different shots as well as careful strategy.

10, 11, & 12 were a challenge but fun
Grounds were in great condition. Loved the starter/ranger - he gave good tips for playing the course.
How to grow the game of golf!
If more courses were run like this one, the game of golf would grow like wild fire! Wes, Don, Brad, and frankly everyone we encountered - the other starter, the rangers, the restaurant and bar staff - everyone - was friendly, fun, and good spirited! What I'd pay to experience this kind of reception and kindness at every course I played... It recalls the concept captured in the book: "Everything I Ever Needed to Know, I Learned in Kindergarten." The clubhouse, built some time ago, seemed dated when we arrived; but looking out at the course and it's conditions made it clear that this was an operation that's had years of experience in how to get it right! The inside showed no such 'datedness', and the pro shop was top notch. Drinks were poured right, the rest rooms were clean, the carts were in good shape and clean (with 2 scorecards each - it's the big things AND the little things that make a difference)! The pace of play was great, and while I'm a 7, my playing partner and best friend is just better than 'beginner', and said he'd never felt so comfortable or had as much fun playing as he did yesterday. He even talked about buying new irons and getting back to playing the game again! I perceive the staff's kind ways were cause for even the other golfers we encountered to be more amicable, friendly, and happy. Or maybe it was simply the smiles we couldn't wipe off our faces! I cannot say enough good things about this place. This is the first review I think I've ever written - the positive experience demanded it! Thank you, to all the staff there at Gull Lake View! Your kind efforts and hospitality are appreciated!
You will use almost every club in your bag!
I liked the elevation changes, good challenges. Tests your shot accuracy.
Well kept
Very nice course. Very well maintained. Challenging older corse. Fairways were well groomed and greens were in very good shape considering the amount of play they received. Well worth the price.
A course of two halves
First time playing this particular Gull Lake course and what a treat.
The service was impeccable as was the course.
First nine is hilly and the second nine is a challenge.
Loved the layout and thoroughly enjoyed my day.
Highly recommended.
Good for all players
Course was in great shape. Moved a little slow because it was a nice Sunday afternoon and was pretty busy. There was a beverage cart so it was nice to get a cold drink every few holes
Enjoyable course; Gull Lake View West
Gull Lake a View courses always in excellent shape. Fairways were tight, greens were well manicured but a bit slow. Speed of play made it very enjoyable. As seniors we played the white tees and it was challenging but doable. Will play it again!
Cant go wrong with Gull Lakeview
This a great mature course with plenty of amenities for both the experienced and rookie.
Old trees
Course was in nice condition considering all the rain. Course was very wet. Greens had lots of ball marks.
Play was slow.
Nice staff.
very nice .
Short course but beautiful scenery and course conditions. Very friendly staff
One of Kalamazoo's finest
Golfnow allows people to play nice courses for great prices. Gull Lake View is a very nice course, the staff and bar area are great. The greens are very hard and the course is very challenging. Overall a great course.
Gull lake view
Great course for the money. The morning I went it was wet outside, and I haven't played many courses that were in better condition considering the rain. Gull lake views staff does an excellent job tending the course. Would recommend to anyone.
glv the original of 4 courses
not professionally designed, has some quirky holes, needs new cart paths badly
Great course.
As advertised...a must play. Do it! You will not be disappointed!
Very nice
Excellent course and a very friendly stall, would recommend gull lake view to all who have not visited it. Thank you for a good afternoon.
extremely friendly staff and great course
Have played at Gull Lake View many times over the years, but this is the firsat time I've played the West course. Considering the time of year and recent cold & snow, this course (& the greens) were in very nice condition. Can't wait to come back and play when there are leaves on the trees.
Played 18 with my wife and she liked the coures as well. Not terribly long, but lots of evelation changes and fairways that moved left to right and right to left. Will definitely play again in the near future. Great staff and really made us feel welcome!
Beautiful course!
Beautiful course, super friendly staff, great condition and a great Golf Now price! Couldn't ask for a better golf experience! Will be planning on playing their other courses!
Great fairways and greens Love the layout
Great 3 years travel to Michigan to play this course.
Nice course, slow play.
The course is a nice combination of hills, woods, and water. Yet it is fair and also very well maintained. I would not recommend playing on Saturday afternoons as the course seems to cater to resort guests who appeared to be drunk, loud, and slow. Otherwise highly recommended.
Great course. Greens and fairways were in excellent condition.
We really enjoyed playing this course. There are a lot of mature trees and some water, but we never seemed to get into trouble with them. Beautifully maintained fairways and greens. We had to drive a little to get to the course but it was well worth the drive and the money to play. I would definitely recommend this course.
