West at Gull Lake View Golf Club and Resort

About
Situated in southwest Michigan's beautiful lake region, Gull Lake View Golf Club offers five championship courses that are easily accessible from Detroit, Toledo, Chicago, Grand Rapids, and Lansing, making it a favorite for golfers from all over the Midwest and Great Lakes. It is also less than 3 hours from some parts of Canada. Gull Lake View West is the club's original course. The club is the oldest and largest in southwest Michigan and it all started with the West Course. Opened in 1963, the golf course has a traditional layout that offers a challenging but fair test. The natural terrain takes center stage on this course. The layout plays across grassy meadows, rolling hills, and valleys and there are also a few densely wooded holes. The diverse terrain calls for a variety of different shots as well as careful strategy.

great experience. .
Wes in the pro shop does an excellent job. Course in great shape. Best bargain in southern Michigan.
Decent course could use some maintenance
The West Course is a solid track with some interesting holes. Rough is friendly. The course and it's amenities could use some maintenance. The cart paths are crumbling, there were a number of bare spots and tire tracks in the fairways. Overall a good value but with some work could be great!
Gull Lake View West
Of the Gull lake view courses it is probably the worst kept. The back nine has a couple rough holes that need work and have been neglected. The greens roll true but are slow. Nice layout. Very playable with enough challenging aspects to make it enjoyable for every skill level.
Player friendly
Course was very consistent, back nine plays much harder than the front! Lots of elevation changes on the back! Fun course because there are holes that you can score well on and other you have to lay back
Nicely maintained golf course
We played a warm sunny day. We haven’t had rain for a couple of weeks so the fairways played firm and fast. Greens were also a bit hard and some well struck shots did not hold the green.
It’s a very hilly course with several doglegs. You will use every club in your bag and this very hilly course. There are a few blind tee shots and to score well you need to be properly positioned on the correct part of fairway.
Close to home
I have several courses within a half-hour of my home. I chose GLV West because I hadn’t played it in years. I love al the GLV courses, but I think West is my new favorite. Great staff, greens were in perfect condition, and it was a beautiful day.
bob
11am tee time on the west course - pace of play was very good - greens were slow, perhaps due to recent rain...tee shots were hit in pretty wide open fairways; up hill, down hill & doglegs...gps targeted directly to the hole & appeared quite accurate...greens were quite large with fair amount of undulation...
Tale of two sides
First nine holes on west side were excellent. By hole 12 pace was horrible. Finally with three groups on hole 17, we packed up and left. Golf courses need to make money but dude,!that was ridiculous!
Nearly 2 hours and 45 minutes for 9
In defense of course, Michigan has had continual rain. Therefore incredible amount of unseasoned players on a sunny day. Dreadful slow round, no continuity. I left after 9 holes despite paying for 18. Very unhappy with the experience.
Gull Lake West
Played West course Memorial weekend in a foursome. Only seen a couple golfers on course which seemed weird but weather may have played a factor and was nice but concerned me. I have played all 6 courses and even though West is probably the worst of the 6, it is in great shape and challenging. Honestly the collection of courses that are offered is fantastic. If I were to rank all 6 it would be....
1. Stoatin Brae
2. Stonehenge North
3. Gull Lake East
4. Stonehenge South
5. Bedford Valley
6. Gull Lake West
