Golfer Reviews
Nice course
This is not a very challenging course as long as you keep it straight you will be fine. Most holes you have a good chance of making pars again if you keep it straight. There are some hills and blind approach shots to some of the greens.
Hah
Funniest course in Michigan. Bring your wedge to each green - you may have to chip over weeds and native grasses that grow sporadically between your ball and the hole.
If the hole is a dogleg, do NOT hit a perfect drive with an appropriate amount of movement on the ball. Instead, make sure you completely toe-slice, or duck-hook the ball at a minimum of 120 yards offline... you'll be sure to find your ball sitting safely on the green... Now, go get your putter, and your wedge, and try to make your birdie while you debate on how to maneuver around that giant dandelion in front of your ball... if you end up 4-putting for bogey, don't be upset. That's a great score out at Highland Hills.
Staff in very cordial and respectful.
Good Course for the Price
This was a good course for not a lot of money. It was my first time here and didn’t know what to expect. I found the course to be in good condition (of course there’s been plenty of rain this year!). The fairways aren’t specially cut or maintained but the greens were very well kept. Some of the greens were small and there were minimal bunkers. The staff were all very friendly and they have a nice clubhouse with a small menu and full bar. I will return again.
Went after rain
We went in poor conditions but on a sunny day it would have been nice.
Great staff. Poor course.
Let me start by saying that the staff is great. But honestly you only interact with a staff about 5% of your time there because you're playing. The course itself, is terrible. Even if you get a hot deal on GolfNow it's still not worth the money and your time oh, you will be disappointed if you do any golfing on a normal basis. The road coming in looks like you're going down the road of a scary movie the road is so bad. The lines that are mode on the course look like a six-year-old did it with a push mower. There are so many chatter bumps on The Fairway it is unreal, you don't even feel like you're driving on fairway grass. The greens were even worse, I felt like I was golfing or a patch of ground that I couldn't get to go grow grass in my yard. But again, the staff was great and the food and drinks are very reasonable pricing. But the course itself is probably top three worst courses I've ever played. The golf carts were from 1980s. This course really needs a huge makeover and new golf carts and could really be something nice out in the country but for now we won't step foot back there.
Highland Hills
Overall course was good. Wish there was a beverage cart on the course though!
The most abused course I have ever played on
First off, I played here for the $10 hot deal price tag. BUT this was a horribly groomed course. Most of the grass was dead, there was no difference in grass cut from the rough to the fairway or even the tee box, the greens and fringe resembled a burn victim, there were holes in the green that ruined the play experience. It was easily the worst course I have ever played, even though there is great potential in the course layout. It just wasn't a good round of golf because you couldn't play your shots correctly due to the horrible conditions.
A good experience, lots of open fairways yet challenging because of lots of hills. The course was quite dry especially the fairways where the ball rolled to places I didn't think it would. A good experience over all.
Highland Hills
For the money a good deal. Fairway grass was long but it has been very wet lately. Name is very fitting. It is a very hilly course.
Quick Play
The course was in good shape and easy to play. Customer service in the clubhouse was excellent!
Great Value for 18 Holes with a Cart
I booked 1pm through Tee Times. Husband and I had a great time. Friendly pro shop. Easy to drive cart with nice guide book. No waiting. We were done by 4pm. Interesting features and long fairways.
