Chemung Hills Golf Club
About
Established in 1927, Chemung Hills Golf Club is one Livingston County's oldest courses. The classic design has withstood the test of time beautifully and it is still considered one of the area's toughest public courses. The layout stretches across lush, rolling hills that are dappled with mature trees. Chemung Hills is known almost as much for the beautiful scenery as it is for the challenging design, which is characterized by its elevation changes. The ups and downs on the course range from subtly tricky to dramatic and intimidating. The layout has a player-friendly mix of short and mid-length holes, even all of the par 5s are reachable. Though you may not need length, your shots will need to be straight and accurate. You'll face blind shots on several holes. Strong iron play will be generously rewarded on this tough golf course.

wow
This course will humblw you in a second be prepared and bring an extra 12 balls unless you can put shot where you wand them to go Very high tee boxes you will love it
Great
Very nice course. Nice lay- out
SURPRISED
I have been wanting to play here for many years, going back to when it was a private club. Finally booked it thru GOLFNOW. It spite of the damage that a dry summer has done to affect the conditions, I still found the course to be in a fairly decent condition. I was very surprised by the challenging layout. A lot of elevation change, hence the Hills part of Chemung Hills. Many doglegs so foe a first timer tee balls can be a bit of a *%ap shoot. My one issue was the lack of sand in a few of the bunkers. Hard pan under a dusting of sand or they just need a little TLC.Give it a try. I'll be back.
Wet Round
For the lack of rain in Michigan this summer, it was quite wet. Other than that, it was a great round. Breezed through 14 holes and got caught behind some foursomes. Course has some tight and challenging holes but overall a somewhat easy course. Hole 18 from the blue tees is quite the uphill shot. Food in the restaurant is a great get after a round.
Chemung Hills
Women friendly tees. Scenic northern Michigan look. Greens fair, slopes reasonable. Course markers very good. Water and restrooms on course good.
Excellent course
I would like to see clearer yardage markers. 200 150 100. Not all of us have GPS watches and I found it difficult to determine how far I was from the pin.
Great staff - challenging holes
Overall experience was very good. The staff were some of the best I've encountered at any course - helpful, friendly and accomodating. The course is not overly long, but challenging especially if you've never played it before and were unfamiliar with the layout. Some blind shots, etc. Used most of the clubs in the bag. Some additional yardage markers on sprinklerheads etc. would be nice. Overall a fun course, will play it again.
Great old track
Got a great HOT DEAL for 8 AM on a Saturday. Frost on the greens delayed golf for about an hour.As a 3 some we were 2nd off the tee.The starting 4 some set a blazing pace.We saw them either driving away from a hole OR they were gone when we reached the tee box. As a 3 some and one being my wife we played 18 in 3 hours. We were loading up the car at noon even after starting at 9...AMAZING for Saturday golf...Friendly staff and the greens were perfect... bit on the faster side when compared with a municipal Livonia course the night before that were SLOOOOOW. Wish golf could be played that fast all the time..hope to get back out to Chemung a lot nore though out this season
Highly recommend
We enjoyed our day at Chemung immensely...very friendly to play and some great scenery...conditions were great for Fall golf
Great Fall play
Super course for the money! Great conditions and interesting hole-to-hole variety.
Hutch
Very nice course, with a lot of short holes but most of them are dog leg right or left. Most of the greens are bunkered on both side in the front of the green.
Very nice greens.
Great value
Great value and worth the drive. Better than average condition. While the pace of play on the front nine was good it was countered by a slow back nine even though it was not overly busy. Play again. Sure.
a great place to spend the afternoon
I started out playing as a single, but the pace of play was a little slow. I was later joined by another singe and this helped pass the time. This is a very nice course to play and the staff is excellent.
Unreasonably slow pace of play
Don't write reviews often, but this course needs to not let everybody go off of the 1st tee whenever they wish. Make them stick to their tee time because when we approached the 1st tee, there were already 2 groups waiting to tee off ahead of us. The course was pretty wet considering we had just gotten a lot of rain the day before and the greens seemed to be really slow. We were fine with the conditions of the course, but waiting for 10-15 minutes on each tee was ridiculous and we just decided it wasn't worth it to wait on every hole and left after the 5th hole. I've been to this course a few times before and have never had an issue with slow pace of play so maybe we just got unlucky and picked a really busy Tuesday morning.. They need a starter so groups stay organized and stick to their tee times and they could also use a ranger out on the course (never saw one during our round) to help speed up some of the groups that were slowing everybody else on the course down. Don't think we will be coming back here again due to the very poor experience we had.
Great Course
One of the best courses in the metro area. Great staff. Would recommend highly. Leave your driver in the bag.
chemung hills review
I overall had a fun time I thought the golf course was beautiful. for me worth the money and the drive.
Fun Course
Fun course, definitely some challenging shots and one of the toughest finishing holes in the area with a 200+ yard par 3 up-hill. Conditions were a little rough on the greens and tee boxes but the weather has been very dry and hot. Will definitely be back
Great course for the area
We had a lot of fun at this course.
The front nine is pretty tight. A few holes that we left the driver in the bag. Lots of dog legs with large groups of trees that can gobble your ball up.
Back nine opened up and we had some pretty fun driving holes. For the most part the greens were in fantastic. Only a few stinkers.
enjoyable round
We played on a hot and sunny Sunday afternoon and enjoyed the course and the challenges it presented. The cost was excellent as we booked through GolfNow and didn't mind the drive from Windsor. The only issue was extremely slow play (5+hrs) with up to three groups on each tee and no rangers addressing the problem. We agreed we would like to play it again, however, in the fall on a weekday.
