Established in 1927, Chemung Hills Golf Club is one Livingston County's oldest courses. The classic design has withstood the test of time beautifully and it is still considered one of the area's toughest public courses. The layout stretches across lush, rolling hills that are dappled with mature trees. Chemung Hills is known almost as much for the beautiful scenery as it is for the challenging design, which is characterized by its elevation changes. The ups and downs on the course range from subtly tricky to dramatic and intimidating. The layout has a player-friendly mix of short and mid-length holes, even all of the par 5s are reachable. Though you may not need length, your shots will need to be straight and accurate. You'll face blind shots on several holes. Strong iron play will be generously rewarded on this tough golf course.

Tricky greens, nice challenge.

Good coarse for the $. I like the greens since they are challenging to putt on. Fun coarse with lots of elevated greens.

Solid course awful rangers

I really do enjoy this course and I have played it for years. Pace of play can be real hit or miss. For some reason they have rangers but all they really do is sit at the first tee box and check you in. There was a group of 12 that went off just before our 2 some and instead of letting us jump ahead the ranger just told us we should have came sooner. After waiting 30 min for the first of three groups to tee off I finally got the ranger to let us go off the back 9. The rest of the course was wide open and we played the 18 in under 3 and a half hours. Still have no idea what the point of the rangers are. This has been the case multiple times.

Give it a try

The course doesn’t actually have mobile check in. The had a minor meltdown about that.

Slow, with no marshaling. Nice layout, greens are pretty good.

7 minute tee time intervals

This course opts to space tee times out every 7 minutes. Being a budget course, you have high handicap golfers on top of that which makes for extremely slow play. The front 9 took 3 hours so we left at the turn. Staff was friendly and the greens were in great condition.

Great course to Solo or Team play

I really enjoyed my couple of rounds at Chemung golf club. Greans were fast and challenging. Some awesome par 3's for sure. I will return for years to come.

Made to feel at home

I booked a tee time for Chemung Hills to play a round while traveling on vacation. I was slated to play alone, but when I checked in I was encouraged to play with the two-some in front of me. The two gentlemen worked at the course part-time. They were gracious enough to allow me to play the round with them. Having local veteran knowledge of the course was extremely beneficial especially for a beginner golfer like myself. The course is beautiful, challenging, and very well maintained. Couldn't have been a better day on the course.

I did stay for lunch at the clubhouse. I didn't think lunch was that great, but maybe I didn't order their best sandwich. Were I to go there again, I'd definitely golf there, but I'd get lunch somewhere else.

Nice layout, tough holes

The front nine is pretty open and can be scored upon. The back nine is much tighter and has lots of chances for big numbers. It's a pretty course, makes good use of the land for the most part. The course is in pretty good shape. It was aerated a few weeks ago and the greens were very slow when I played yesterday. If you make an online tee time, call to confirm before you go. I've played there five times this year. I've twice shown up to be told my tee time was moved back by a half hour or more. Once I arrived 30 minutes before my tee time planning to hit the range but was told I had to go directly to the tee if I wanted to play. Yesterday I had an 18 hole tee time and made the turn to find more than a dozen league players still waiting to tee off on the back nine. Each time the course has blamed GolfNow for giving away unauthorized tee times. Maybe that's the case but if I go back, I'll be confirming before I make the trip.
