Wallinwood Springs Golf Club
About
Wallinwood Springs Golf Club is bordered by the scenic Grand River on its eastern side. The challenging layout boasts an island green, an island tee, and a peninsula fairway. The golf course has two distinctly different nines, beginning with an open Scottish-links layout before moving onto the back nine, which is enclosed by mature trees. Wind definitely plays a role on the front nine and on the backside of the course there is a 26-acre, man-made lake, where if you're not careful you'll be met with a watery grave on five holes. Extensive mounding is paired with 30 strategically placed sand traps to provide even more challenges. The most difficult hole on the golf course is the par-4 16th, which stretches to more than 400 yards. Golfers will need a long, straight drive from the island tee in order to avoid the water on both sides of the fairway.

Not as good as it use to be
Golfed this course in 2016 was really impressed. Golfed this course yesterday and less than impressed. Grass was super dry. Super bumpy. Greens not the best. Mine as well go to Lincoln country club for $15 unlimited
Nice Round
Good round. Nice day out. Some of the greens were soaked and some were dry as a bone. It was my first time play, but I've been told that the back 9 can flood.
Front 9 played well for an early April round.
Didn't get to play the back due to flooding, but enjoyed my round. Especially at the weekend rate I paid.
could be great
Play this course several times a year, great layout, and it could be great if anyone cared. Fairways poor condition along with greens. Today 3/29/17 is probably my last time to attempt to play this course, called at 4:00 to check if I could get a round in after work 5:30-5:45, was told no problem. So I hurried over after work got there at 5:32 and the pro shop was all locked up. Staff has been going down hill for several years now. Don't see myself ever playing here again.
Solid Front 9 stupid back 9
Layout on front solid. Back is horribly wrong.
Tough back nine
I have always liked the layout of this course. Great par 3s and tough par 5s. The fairways were in decent shape. The greens and tees are very poor condition. The pro shop is almost empty. I hope they make it, but it looks like they are struggling.
Perfect Family Golfing Day
Perfect timing as our group was 3 couples and the course mentioned they didn't have anyone playing after us so we got to play all 6 together. We let a twosome and a single play thru on the 5th and 6th holes and they understood and were pleasant as well. We had a fair amount of beginners and a first timer with us and the front 9 was the perfect set up for them. Didn't lose too many balls, not too many forced carries or trouble on the front 9. 4th green had some hydraulic spill which caused some strips on the green and a few burnt out spots in other areas but the greens were very playable and rolled true. Trouble areas were well to the fringe and outskirts of the green. Everything was nice and green and rough was actually rather penal as it was on the longer side. The fairways weren't cut super short which as a middle handicapper I love as the ball sits up a bit for you and I don't have to worry about the tight lie thin shot which I skull over the green from 50-75 yards. This course is a good test and the back is murders row for the expert and the front is a nice test and you get to use many clubs in the bag. I'll be back at some point.
Course needs work.
This course could be one of the best in west Michigan if it was taken care of, but it is not. The greens need a lot of work and there were even ant hills on some of them. Missing patches of grass in the middle of the greens is unacceptable, especially for a course that requires you to pay as much as this one did. The cart paths are destroyed due to tree roots growing under them. The grass seemed like it hadn't been cut in a couple of days and there are divot marks that haven't been repaired on every hole.
Thank you for your review. We are very disappointed to hear that you did not have a good experience. Please email us at WallinWoodSprings@gmail.com to further discuss your round. We hope to hear from you soon and to have another chance at exceeding your expectations.
Pretty long and challenging
Will definitely play again course is plenty long from the blues and the greens are pretty fast. Back nine is completely different from the front makes it quite hard
Hi Claynewman,
Thanks for the review. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your round. We look forward to seeing you back again soon!
slow play
Course was decent, but pace was very slow. A lot of players that didn't und rrstand golf etiquette
banfimar,
Thank you for taking the time to write a review and for playing the course. We apologize that the pace of play was slow and we hope it will be better next time you are out!
Ok
Make sure you call. The course is ok but there is no etiquette on the course. I was a single and the foursome wouldn't let me play through as they searched for 10+ minutes to find their first shots on a par 3. Then on the next hole decided to tell me the reasons why I can't play through on the next tee. Had another gentleman get out of his cart and stand in the middle of my fairway after his shank for about 8 minutes as I looked on and couldn't tee off. This course is ok at best and then when you add in the lack of common sense and etiquette it's not worth your time. Ran out of like with 4 holes to play and started my round at 5 as a single.
Nice layout
Great price, nice layout. The place is falling apart, door on pro shop is rusted, the whole building is in need of repair including pot holes in driveway and parking lot. Cart paths have more grass growing in them than black top. All the trash cans were full and over flowing, the ball washers were empty and missing towels.

Nice course
Wallinwood is a nice course for the occasional golfer which I can only speak to. Parts of the back 9 holes were a bit buggy due to a lot of mucky water. I enjoyed the front 9 much better. Pretty setting with variety of challenges. I would definitely go back.

Not what it once was.
I have played this course a few times in the past couple years. This was my first time out there this year and I'm not sure I'll ever be going back. The staff in the club house cumulatively were about 25 years old between 2 of them. They had feet up on counters playing games on their phones. This wasn't a big deal to me as it seemed extremely slow on the course. The course itself was mediocre at best. Tee boxes were in OK shape, toughs were meager and untended, the greens were surprisingly in good condition, but were unbelievably slow. The sand traps were small ponds, mud filled or laden with rocks that could damage any wedge. We scheduled a tee time and before we made the first green, we had a couple in jean shorts yelling from 200 yards out wanting to pass. We let a second single pass us before we tee'd off on the second hole. A third couple with only one person golfing (or at least one bag and letting his girlfriend hit) went zooming by while we were on the green at hole 2. Then a group of 3 young boys skipped the third hole and went cruising by and paired up with the first rude couple who passed us. At this point, the five played leisurely golf and out nine holes turned into a 2-hour and 45-minute ordeal. Last summer when I went the course was in much better shape and management actually seemed existent. I wouldn't suggest going unless you're looking to ride around skipping holes and playing in the mud.
Beautiful course, Fun to play
This course has everything I want in a golf experience. There is every type of hole: short holes you can drive, long holes you can bomb, tricky mid length holes to think about, elevation changes, sneaky hazards, and so on.
Everything is in great shape, and the staff is always friendly. My only gripe is that this course has a tendency to jam up less skilled golfers quickly, and sometimes playing through isn't even an option. Also, occasionally a bunch of goose droppings on the greens, but that is usually manageable.
Wallingwood springs
Nice course. I liked the layout. Being fairly early in the spring, this course still has areas of excessive rain. Some holes are quite difficult, some are fairly easy. I liked the mounds throughout the course.
Excellent course
This was our first time playing this course, we had an excellent time the staff was friendly, course was excellent, would come back to this course any day of the week!
HI Dan3175619,
