Sad Course Closed
Course designed by Wilf Reid who also designed Imdianwood Old. The greens in Bald Mountain were some of the most unique around. The layout was over very hilly terrain.
I have played most of Wilf Reid’s courses and this is a big loss.
Good layout, bad upkeep
I am sure in its day this was a nice course. But not anymore. Fairways were long. Cart paths were a joke. Almost no yardage markers on the course. Tough as a first time player on the course. Greens had piles of clippings all over it.
busy day
I played as a single and "bounced" around. It got me through in a little over 3 hours. When I finished I noticed the 4some I originally started behind was just making the turn. This is one of my "regular" courses and I'll be back.
Not a well manicured course...
I will qualify this review by saying we only paid $20/person for 18 and a cart through Golfnow, and I wouldn't pay a dime more for this course.
Fairways are marginally different than simply mowing your own grass and weeds short. While the greens did seem to roll fairly true, several of them had large patches of disease.
The course layout is pretty much a joke. From tee box number 3 (playing blue tees) you literally have to hit a dead hook around trees to even come close to the fairway, which you cannot see at all from the tee box on a straight hole due to the placement of the tee box behind the trees. All of the jokes play pretty much the same, then you come to two back-to-back par 3's that are both over 200 yards. Who would design such a layout?
The pace of play was acceptable even though the course is full of beginners so plan accordingly.
I do not plan to return to this course though I think it does offer value for beginning golfers looking for wide open areas of forgiveness.
They over book !!
They had way to many people out there and to top it off no marshals to maintain the pace of play .I watched numerous people tee up three balls with the group sitting behind them!!! If your going to over book it then at least have a,some marshals to get the pace of play going. No need to have 2-3 groups waiting on the tee box.
Play Now - Course has been sold!
Good basic golf. Course has been sold to Pulte (deal finalized 7/19) for a housing development. I expect conditions may decline as the season progresses.
Nice course
Nice course greens in great shape tee boxes good condition Will play again
Value
The course plays fair and is good for a high handicap player. No much trouble but length is good. Greens in pretty good shape, play fair and fairways are decent. Place does need some TLC. No cart staff serving drinks on a fairly warm and humid day. Price on golf now was outstanding. With a bit more effort, this course could improve but it is what it is. A cheap place to hack golf balls.
First time I beat my Father
I thought the course lacked water and tree obstacles. But, then soon realized it made it up by the rolling hills, wavy greens(well maintained), challenging pin placement & also the elevated greens. A good course where you can use all your clubs.
Bang Away
If you like wide fairways as I do and the feeling of being fearless on the T box with your driver, than Bald Mountain will put you at ease.
decent greens and well maintained
Its a pretty wide open course wit long par 3's which made it challenging. Overall I think it's a nice course that brings its own set of challenges. I will be back
Great layout, needs TLC
Always loved the layout of this course. Maintenance has deteriorated over the past 10-15 years. Rumors that Pulte Homes will buy and develop as subdivision next year. Try to get out this summer and play this old gem. Same designer that designed Indianwood.
Bald Mountain
Pretty decent course. It has elevation changes and is usually in fine shape. Would play again.
Greens in Fair condition for November
Fairway & Greens in fair Condition. But cart paths in poor condition. When you finish playing this course, go see your chiropractor.
good course for the avg golfer
fairways extremely generous. pace of golf was a little slow. some holes very scenic. good value. pro shop was accommodating and got us on early.
POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE
i ARRIVED 6 MINUTES LATE AND WAS TOLD, I CANNOT LET YOU ON THE COURSE, YOU ARE LATE.
No nicesties like, "sir I'm sorry, but due to the volume of business I am unable to let you play". Possible alternative? I am also in the business of meeting with customers and have to sometimes give them news that I don't want to, or they don't want, but saying it in a way that leaves both parties disappointed, but not entirely upset as I was and am now.
Based on the way I was treated, I would not recommend this course to anyone.
Very Enjoyable
My son and I played a very enjoyable 18 holes on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. A little slow, due to an outing, but the staff let us know that prior to teeing off. Although the course is a long course we both played one of the better rounds as of late.
