Great course….for beginners. While approx 6400 from the whites, the course conditions are not suitable for the intermediate or advanced player. Confusing layout with 5 sets of tees. Traditional courses have a red yellow, white and blue or black tee set. This course uses weird colors. Not a big deal.Come to find out one of the sets is for a soccer golf course, which by the way has a set of tees and at least one green on every hole as well. Looking straight down the fairway you see 3 to 4 flags on every hole as the soccer golf course winds and crosses through the entire 18. They had two fairway mowers going when we were playing. One was a traditional golf course mower, the other a residential 60 inch riding mower. Greens, while they did not hold approach shots very well, were in surprisingly good shape. They rolled slow. There is really no fringe so if you like to putt from the fringe, it is pretty difficult. Their fringe is longer than traditional fairway grass at other courses. Speaking of fairway grass, there were a lot of bare patches and longer than usual grass. The bunkers were OK. The amount of sand in the bunkers is equivalent to the amount of sand all over the course from anthills. Pro shop is adequate at best, with a very limited clothing selection and no club selection. Would not go back again.
Terrible
First, I booked through GolfNow, 18 holes for 43. Its usually 50-55. The pro shop acted like they have never heard of golf now before, even though I've been golfing there for 20 years. Then after showing him my phone and the confirmation, he said I could only play 9. HUH?? There were 6 cars in the parking lot and most leagues don't shotgun start on a Wednesday.
Tee Boxes; worst I've ever seen. More cigarette butts than grass. Not level in the slightest. You will tee the ball up a different height everytime
Fairways: Patchy, poorly maintained, crab grass everywhere
Greens: BROWN AND LONGEST IVE EVER PLAYED
And you pay more here than at luxury courses. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
Solid golf course
Royal is my home course & has been for over 20 years. It's 27 holes with the newest 9 holes being much tougher especially if the wind is up. The 1st photo is the tee box of #19 but the other two are from another golf course. Grand Ledge Country Club I believe. Either way, Royal is a fine golf course with plenty of stuff for the family to do if they don't golf.
Blah
Staff not friendly. Price is crazy high for the area and competing courses. The new 9 is the only decent holes but it starts at 7 and ends at 15 so you have to play 18 to get the decent 9 with bland holes to start and finish.
Great course
Very good course from the blue tees. Walked and enjoyed the pace. Bring your own water bottle as not all of the thermos stops had paper cups!
Don’t adhere to good pairing policies
Booked on golf now. Only 1 spot avail. Other 3 had been purchased. When I arrived I was told I would have to wait because the 3some ended up bringing a 4th. I had to wait 1 1/2 hours before I was finally paired with a 2some. They were booked with all 4somes . They should have honored my purchased time and told the extra person sorry. Really poor experience.
Great Course
This course was a lot of fun to play. There was a mixture of sand and water traps to add difficulty without being overwhelming. I would definitely be going back in the future.
Solid course for the money
A nice course for the affordable price they charge. Good mix of traditional and links style. Keeps things interesting
Great staff, nice course
We played Royal Scot for the first time in 2 years and found in great condition. The staff was terrific and it made the round start out on a positive note.
Royal Scot
Good course to play. Had to wait on every hole because the group ahead never offered to let us play through
