Links of Novi - East to West
Greens are still recovering from the winter, but otherwise the course was in perfect condition.
absolute steal for the hot deal price.
Great course - great price
27 holes on this course. West side a bit more open than the East side. You have to hit the ball straight to avoid the trees and hazards.
Fabulous course highly recomended
Awesome course not to hard for average player but challenging for low handicap player
This course was maintained well. And it is challengable and enjoyable.
But some bunkers were not maintained by players. Please give some notice to them. Thanks.
Tight and scenic for a suburban course
Large greens that would ordinarily be challenging but were recently aerated. Played East to South. East greens were not sanded with dimples 1-2 inches deep and impressions the size of dimes - putting with accuracy hopeless. South greens not much better.
Course plays short so an accurate driver and wedges are key. Never used a 7, 8 or 9 iron. Did use a 5 iron and hybrid 4 on some par 4's along with a 3 wood on par 5's.
Fortunately got out before an outing and things moved well.
Worth the money
Played south-east courses. South course is very straight forward course. East course has a bit more to offer. Overall the course is maintain well except for couple of greens which are patchy.
This course is very challenging.
I played here for the 1st time , and the course was in excellent shape, very difficult greens.
Changed my tee time...
Delayed my tee time by 15 minutes... because of that instead of being able to finish in 3-4 hours, it took us >5 hours to complete 18 holes despite starting of this early. I may not go there again.
Don't go there if you don't want to get bad feeling
Good deal at Golfnow
However, I am very disappointed with the marshall's bad attituded. He ordered me skip 2 holes "you have to pick up the ball and move hole right now!". It seems Links of NOVI doesn't care of smal player but only think big money of outting players.

Good deal at Golfnow
However, I am very disappointed with the marshall's bad attituded. He ordered me skip 2 holes like a police man "you have to pick up the ball and move hole right now!". It seems Links of NOVI doesn't care of me and only think the money of outting players.
Great course but felt stalked by Cart girls and Marshall
Great deal for course, just felt hurried by Marshall even tho no one was behind us we were told to skip a hole.Cart girls also although were polite I felt were bothersome.
Great course well maintained
Overall great place the pace of play was great with them having 27 holes to play. Bunkers were PGA quality
Don't golf there when they have a outing
This is a really nice course however don't ever go there when they have outings or leagues. They over book people so they don't lose money. Then they charged me for 1 hole I played. They should have some Consideration and give a full refund when they over book 3 foursomes at the same time.
Course Set-up
Links of Novi (Michigan)The East 9 course was very difficult with very tight pin placements and no room to work the ball, Un--realistic par 3's each over 200 yards, Whereas the west 9 course was a little more player friendly. Overall enjoyed the round.
Next time will play South/ West Combo
Very good course I played WEST and SOUTH courses
I have played WEST and SOUTH Courses. West is pretty scottish style and SOUTH is bit challenge and need more accuracy due to lot of tree around the fairway. I wanted to play on the EAST course, may be next time.
It is like a real PGA course.
The course gave us that good golf now rate. If we had to play at the regular rate it would have to pay double.
Better than average
The course is definitely well kept, and the price average to high with what is in the area. There are however deals to be found here that make it a great value.
They have 3 sets of 9s, East, West, South. East plays a bit narrow, though I considered it fair and fun and I am one of the wilder hitting players that I know. West is a good balanced challenge, however South plays quite short and I usually try to avoid it myself. When booked through GolfNow you get to pick the 2 nines you play.
I'm a mid 90's player but a longer hitter (275+ driver, 200+ 5 iron), though often not straight, and I have usually no issue playing from longer tees, however here I should have played the whites. I had a good handful of lost balls some even on shots that I would consider good at most courses. I lost most of them on the East course, course management is not one of my strengths. On that same note, everytime I went to look for my ball, I rarely found it but found 5 others real quick. The problem with hitting ProVs is you never find an upgrade and rarely a replacement.
The greens seemed bigger than average, but that is probably by design because there are a few challenging targets off of the tee. The greens were in good shape, and provided an adequate challenge. Good variety of crazy sloped greens to ones you could post nice scores on.
PACE OF PLAY:
Pace of play is maybe the most important attribute of a public course. I played very early morning by design, 3rd group off and had no issue with pace of play. I've played during peak hours and suffered some slowness but not as bad as some public courses. They definitely have respect for tee times, and are not just shoving people out on the courses to make cash like I know some places do. I was 3rd group off for the day, and I think the first four-some, and I specifically noted a group being told they couldn't go off early which I consider great. I also saw the ranger on multiple occasions making his rounds making sure things were moving along nicely.
Other notes:
-The course has a full length driving range with mats/rubber tees. It was $5 for 30 balls, expensive by range standards but seemed avg for a pre-round warm-up.
-The carts were in great shape and clean. Gas powered and pretty zippy, nothing fancy like Navigation or anything if you care about that stuff.
-Though I only saw her once (I did have a very early round, on a particularly cold day) they have a beer cart girl with snacks and beverages.
-The Pro-Shop was nice carrying newer equipment, not odd off-brand 2 year old left handed clubs like some places. Not that I ever would pay pro-shop prices for anything myself.
OVERALL worth a play.
Nice course
Got paired with another Couple but was great fun. some holes are challenging but otherwise a good fair course
well maintained course and friendly staff.
We played east to west and teed of behind an outing, the first nine took 3 hours to play. When we reached the 7th hole the ranger told us that we could go to the south nine if we wanted to. We took his advice and finished the last nine in 1 1/4 hours.
