Myth Golf & Banquet - Regulation Course
About
The Myth Golf & Banquet, formerly known as Beaver Creek, tumbles across rolling hills. Situated next to Lake Orion, the golf course sits on protected land that is home to an abundance of wildlife, including sandhill cranes. There is both an 18-hole championship course and a nine-hole par-3 course. In 2007, when the Myth was established, several improvements were made to the championship layout, improving its conditions and making it more challenging. The scenic golf course features boardwalk cart paths that cut through beautiful pine forests. Don't get too distracted by the scenery though because there is plenty to keep you busy including multi-tiered greens and water hazards on almost every hole. The 13th is the golf course's signature hole. This par 3 plays from an elevated tee over water to a generous green, offering a great opportunity for a birdie.

Hole 13, fun par 3 Photo submitted by Tait2dn on 05/09/2013
Fun challenge
This is a good course for intermediate to experience golfers. I had several people enjoy the challenge of the course. The thing that stunk was the beginner golfers. No offense but this course is not one to start out on. Go to Oxford hills where they are wide open. Rather then here where it's easy to loose a ball and hold up the line. Overall I had a great time and the staff was great!
boardwalk needs a lot of work
Hadn't golfed this since last year, and first time golfing 18 holes here. The boardwalk/cart path between holes is terrible. We saw many nails sticking upright and had to be careful driving as the boards were so lopsided.
Won't be back until next year at the earliest....
Pent up demand
Very crowded with a combination of good weather and the lifting of ban on golfing. As a result had to walk the entire course. Cart trails could use some maintenance when they start again.
Mid March golf
The course was in good condition considering the time of year. With the exception of 17, the greens were great.
My favorite part was my mind was taken of the fear of Coronavirus by the terrifyingly dilapidated raised, wooden cart trails going through out wooded areas of the course.
Seriously, this is a fun course, but the cart paths are a problem.
Greens were fast. but fair. a couple of less the nice tee boxes course well marked.
Bring more balls.
Tough course.
Tight fairways and elevated greens.
Some greens have just enough slope to punish you.
Still, an interesting course but, play for fun, not the score.
No driving range.
First Time Playing
The course is like a trek into nature, very picturesque and cut through marshes and woods. My friend and I didn't care for the layout golf wise, but it was beautiful.
First timer
The course will challenge you, and I accepted. The greens and the layout of the course will test your skills. I will be ready for a second round of the The Myth very soon.
Tight course
this is a course with very tight Fairways. you have to hit it straight or you will be either in the woods or the swamps. it is not a very long or difficult course if you stay straight. the greens have a lot of hills and slopes which make them very challenging
Pass unless you're a new golfer or get a good deal
Tee boxes were destroyed. They look like they never take care of them year after year. Seriously the worst I've ever seen. Even with all the rain we've had lately the greens were so hard I couldn't even make a ball mark and I had a few hit the green and bounce right off 4 feet in the air. Usually I plug my ball on the green. Definitely will not be back.
The Myth is just that, a Myth
Came to the course to play with my wife. While we understand there has been a tremendous amount of rain the overall experience was subpar. The staff was rude, Tee boxes on 3 and 5 were like teeing off from someone’s backyard that hadn’t been cut in weeks. It didn’t even look like a Golf course. They have a series of wood bridges which are dilapidated and definitely in need of work. We played here because it was new to us and a “Hot Deal” Upon check in they charged the guys in front of us $10 less per person. We will not be back here’ as there are far better options for equal to or less than the same amount of $$$
Needs much upgrading
Golf carts steering so bad had to drive both hands and drive slow. Many of the cart paths are wooden over swampy areas. They are in serious need of repair. The greens are unlike any I have seen before. Very large mounds, very severe angles. It was difficult not to three putt if more than 25 feet away. The ball would slow down catch the slope and run 20 to 25" downhill from the hole. It was very easy to have the ball roll off the green and into the rough with a putt. I know I will not return.
Great
Great deal for the money, layout is a bit funky for a few holes, all around good condition.
A Tough Course
Okay, the greens on this course are absolutely ridiculous, sticking them is near impossible. Outside of the greens, the course is challenging but not terribly hard, it is usually very wet. My biggest complaint about this course are the bunkers, and although there are not very many of them, they are poorly maintained and often full of water.
